    • Thought I checked Twitter before going to bed, but ended up buying a refurbished PC for my mother to replace her 4th-gen Haswell clunker that has a noisy PSU fan.
      Haswell processors are not terrible. I still use one as my main desktop. And you can replace power supplies.

      Newer computers have a number of improvements but Dell Refurbished computers are not the latest and greatest. They are often solid but middle aged.

    • I was looking at the two (currently) Lenovo ThinkCentre M910S listings. They look identical but at different prices. The difference is that the more expensive one has a discrete graphics card. But that's harder to discover than it should be.

      The RS 430 with 2G of RAM is probably well worth the extra $20 (after coupon) if you have any use for it.

      @teamocil First off, great handle :) The 3420 do have ECC RAM, the build spec lists: 16GB (4x4GB) 2133MHz DDR4 ECC UDIMM. You can certainly add a video card, but the unit has onboard/integrated video, and can be used as is. The most common card that was used in these units was the Quadro K620, from the various original build specs I can see.

    • Thanks- I went with Refurb.io as recommended earlier, better deals and options and decent shipping times/customer service
      How are the deals better there? Every time I look they are not better. For example, now the minimum price for an i5-8xxx desktop is $389 there. Compared to $300. The site properly sorts by price though.
