    • this deal seems hot for people looking for a low-end gaming pc

      HP 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Black (AMD Ryzen 5 3550H/256GB SSD/8GB RAM/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050/Win 10) - 649.99,

before anyone jumps in and start bashing the specs on this laptop, i have a friend who's very insistent on spending as little money as possible but while still being able to play some games on low end, this would be a perfect laptop for her. same with if you have a child that really wants to play some pc games, and don't care much for graphics quality, but you don't wanna spend too much money.

    • I was confused when I got this Flyer... without actually looking at the front page.. I only saw the bar at the top of the screen saying valid between the 18th to 21st. Kept trying to buy stuff until I finally looked at the front page...

The obvious reasons not to buy machines like this is that the build quality is typically very poor. I don't have experience with this exact model but in most cases, these machines are completely plastic with a single fan for cooling, Plastic doesn't dissipate heat so when you game on something like this, the heat gets trapped inside causing the system to get very hot and stressing the inadequate cooling system. That's one of the reasons a lot of cheap laptops either die early or just get really slow (thermal throttling).

sony's were released last year so the discount is steeper, but the sound quality and noise cancellation is either the same or slightly better than the Bose, so it'll come down to fit preference.

The 700's were released this year so you wont see them at the same price as Sony's.

yes ofcourse, i never expect to get anything good out of these kind of prices, problem is i never assume good quality out of the so-called gaming laptops priced at 800+ either, so atleast for the same crappy quality you get to spend 150 less.

when you get a friend who refuses to spend anything more than 800 dollars(all in), and they don't care for quality, this is what they're gonna be looking for. personally i have a desktop that i built myself and i've put some serious money into it, planning to have it last me atleast another 5 years.

      - Looking for thoughts or concerns regarding this monitor. Is this a good buy?
      - Is the brightness of 250 cd/m² adequate?
      - Any similar alternatives during this BF sale period?

      Thanks.

It is okay for the money, especially if you want a IPS panel. If you want it strictly for gaming and don't mind the viewing angles or color accuracy then this is an option too if you can find it. For 1080p both are good, they should be good for console gaming too.

Oh those budget gaming laptops are the same nightmare really, you're just paying for branding and RGB at that point. I rarely recommend gaming on a laptop but if one were to buy a laptop for gaming, I can only bring myself to recommend something that has a proper cooling system. Regardless, many people read these threads so I felt it was important to warn users why they shouldn't buy such a cheap machine and expect to be able to game on it.
