View allBut I'd just to update on how good of a deal this was for me!
Because of the "Get $100 off when spending more than $400 on Hue Products" promo they had going on, I paid $313 for 2 Philips Hue starter sets, and 4 amazon dots. (This means 8 color bulbs, 2 Hue bridges, 4 dots).
I sold the extra bridge, and all four Dots for $40 each. This means I got $200 back from the items I sold.
$313 - $200 = $113 for 8 color bulbs, and a bridge!!! When I look at Best Buy's page right now, just 4 bulbs and a bridge costs $249.
Just curious, which platform did you use to sell your Dots? (Facebook Marketplace, kijiji?) I see tons on Kijiji for the $30 range.
There is a market for them; cheap enough to not worry much about buying one and disliking it. Amazon will warrantee them without a receipt, so that's good too.
Thank you best buy manager and specialist if you're reading this.
I enjoy home automation and new gadgets so it was a good deal for me.
I am not sure where you got your numbers from. Reread the post and I see it is 4 bulbs, not 2. I guess I just saw 2 in the subject, bulbs and echos and that is what stuck in my memory. But I still don’t see how 4 bulbs and 2 echos for $199 becomes 8 bulbs and 2 echos for $225? There seems to be some new math going on here.
If I buy a kit for $199 + HST. I have spent $225 like you said. I sell the two echos. Now I am $175 in for 4 bulbs. That is $43.75 a bulb. Still seems like a cold deal.
Now if somewhere there is another unmentioned 4 bulbs then we are down to $21.88 a bulb. Then this is starting sound warm. Still a disposable item at an insane price, but at least it is below the market price. It reaches the point of impulse buy...
I'm hoping set up will be easy.
If you sell low on the dots; for maybe 25 each and the hub for 25 as well, you are then in for 225 for a hub and 8 bulbs.
If the hub is valued at 25, that would leave you at 200 in for 8 bulbs which is a fantastic deal. Yes they are well worth with that.
Not sure where your numbers are coming from.
That said, the website lets me get this deal if i just click reserve in store so idk how true that is.
I don't need Echo dots. Where do you guys sell them?
They had some trouble combining the bundles at checkout but eventually just charged me an override discount for $10 Tap control. $236 taxes in.
Ps: Anyone in lower mainland need a hub or an echo dot send me a PM, already have one :P
Will figure out later if I need it.
Also, I vastly prefer the Echo to Google Home - certainly pros and cons for both.
Also genuinely wondering what you guys do with so many A19 bulbs, I have only like 3 lamps in the house that take these kinds of bulbs.
