    • Thank you! Been looking for this to drop in price... didnt expect this much of a drop! It just came out.

Before anyone asks, I wanted one without a screen. Just basic features with a google assistance plus clock that I can look at anytime during the night without having to touch my phone.
I had the hub but we moved it to the kitchen because we barely used the screen functions and I miss the clock feature.

Anyone know if you can set up the alarm with the device it self and not google through wifi?

you can set the alarm through the device itself (using the touchscreen) but I dont know if it has to be connected to your wifi network at all times...

    • How's the sound quality for music? Is it comparable to Google Home?

    • Why is the item not free shipping though, it hits the $35 price point?

I am looking to pick one up, but want something that is not so bright at night. I find alarm clocks these days are so bright I get a suntan at night.

Anyone have experience with even 'dim' settings?

I have several Google Home Mini (1st gen) and I too would like to know how the audio compares with that.

    • I'd prefer the smart clock, because there's a sensor you can adjust the light to be brighter when the lights are on vs off. It's also better looking, if you're into that sort of thing. It's also easier to set multiple alarms since it's touch screen and what not.

I have mine set to look very dim/minimal at night and have a easier to read clock face during the day :)

I'm also not sure if the essential has a 'tap' to snooze feature. It's on the smart clock and I use it very often!

Hi! I have the smart clock and a google mini 1st gen, 2nd gen

In terms of sound quality to my untrained ear it's probably comperable to the the mini 1st gen. The 2nd gen is better/richer/bassier.

For dim settings on the Smart clock (not the essential) it's ok, it's not as dim as I'd like since the screen is not oled.
I think you might run into a similar issue since it's a white led but best buy has a good return policy at least.

I miss the red digit alarm clocks, they were the dimmest.

    • I'm not a big fan of this product. The other lenovo smart clock which was a few dollars more could also display your pictures from the google photo app which made it more appealing..
