This offer is only available to first-time Amazon Cash users. Amazon Cash is a free service that lets you instantly add an Amazon.ca Gift Card balance to your Amazon account at participating brick-and-mortar outlets like Canada Post or 7-Eleven -- we've listed steps to get started below.

  • Go to the Amazon Cash page to get a unique barcode tied to your Amazon.ca account
  • Visit a Canada Post outlet or other participating store and show your barcode to load a balance up to $500.00 directly to your account
  • Load $20.00 or more and a $5.00 promotional credit will be automatically applied to your account

This bonus offer is available until December 31, while the $5.00 promotional credit expires on January 31, 2020. The bonus credit can only be used on products sold and shipped by Amazon.ca, while the loaded Amazon.ca Gift Card balance does not expire and does not have merchandise restrictions.

    • Seems I'm eligible for this offer even though I had loaded Amazon Cash once before, back in Dec. 2018

EDIT Just because you can see the offer doesn't mean you're eligible

    • Why would I want to turn real cash into money that is only good at Amazon? Other than the free $5.

Or is this the closest we can get to paying with debit on Amazon?

Sorry, i don't get it. I thought the promo is just to recharge your amazon balance by paying cash. And this can be done at various retailers like Canada post. The cash balance is just available on amazon.ca to be applied towards any purchase, Are you saying that you don't shop at any of the retailers that offer this recharge capability or did I misunderstand the promo ?

    • Did it last time and the thing I find difficult was item has to be shipped and sold by Amazon to use the credit, which is far more limiting than it sounds. I ended up having to dip much deeper than I want for stuff and there is a time limit.

    • Called into Amazon and CS said I should qualify when I mentioned I wasn't sure if I qualify. Everything went smoothly at Canada Post. I tried paying with credit card but it wouldn't go through. The $5 bonus email came right away - only good for next order that is shipped & sold by Amazon and has an expiry. Here are the terms in the $5 promo credit email:

As a thank you for adding $20 or more to your Amazon Balance with Amazon Cash, a $5 promotional credit has been applied to your account. The $5 credit will be displayed at checkout to your next qualifying purchase of items shipped from and sold by Amazon.ca. Your credit expires on January 31, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (PT). Visit promotional terms and conditions for more details. Offer limited to one per Amazon account. Amazon credit only applies to products shipped and sold by Amazon.ca (look for "sold by Amazon.ca" on the product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if "fulfilled by Amazon.ca" or "Prime Eligible".
