Amazon Prime Day 2022 is back for 2022 and it's the perfect time to sign up for Prime, as you'll need a membership to shop Amazon's highly-anticipated two-day event from July 12-13.

All Prime members will have access to deals on Prime Day, including those on free trials – here's how to sign up for an Amazon Prime free trial in Canada.

  • Amazon Prime Free Trial (30 Days) – Amazon offers free 30-day trials to new members or former members who haven't been subscribed in the past 12 months
  • Amazon Prime Student Free Trial (6 Months) – students enrolled at a Canadian college or university can get an extended six-month free trial as long as you have a valid education email address

Both free trials will grant access to Prime Day if you sign up before July 12, along with additional perks like free shipping with no minimum on millions of items, unlimited Prime Video streaming, free games every month with Prime Gaming and much more.

In Canada, Amazon Prime is priced at $9.99 per month or $99.00 per year, while Amazon Prime Student is priced at $4.99 per month or $49.00 per year. All free trials will automatically convert to standard memberships at the end of the trial, but you can cancel your membership at any time.

NOTE: free trials are not available in Quebec – instead, Quebec residents get extended membership lengths at no extra charge when signing up for monthly or annual Prime subscriptions.

    • I've gotten the 1 month free twice and always use them during December. Gotta get those Christmas panic buys.

    • does that mean if there's something on Amazon Prime video i want to watch... i just "sign up" for Prime... then cancel after the trial and I can re-sign up a year after?
      Yes.
However you don't even need to wait until after the trial. As soon as you sign up, you can cancel and you will still be able to use Prime for 30 days. One 30-day trial a year and it resets a year after you first signed up.

This also works the same with PrimeVideo Channels (ie. StackTV, AMC+, STARZ, HeyU, BritBox, etc).
All these channels offer 1 month free trials and then Amazon will charge you after the trial is up.

However you can sign up for a channel's trial and then immediately go into your PrimeVideo account settings and cancel the subscription to the channel.
You will still be able to use the channel for the remainder of the trial.

These channel trials also reset every year!

    • Dont get me going on this, only thing stopping me from becoming a Amazon buying zombie is that I dont have Prime.

Did do the free Prime once, totally addicting.
Opposite for me. I’ve had something like 5 or 6 1-month free trials, hardly bought anything, rarely watched prime video, and cancelled all the trials at the end. I never found what you get to be worth the cost at all.
