    • Received the 4K Max today, too late to call $AMZN for price adjustment. For a matter of principle, I will try call some CSR to see if Bezos will honor their price error.

    • Is it possible to have roku and Firestick connected to the TV at the same time, and then switch back and forth between them when you want? If so how?
Yes possible... I have 4 HDMI inputs. Just select which port you wanted from TV remote.

    • Finally got my Firestick MAX.

So far not impressed. Every app I download shows up as a $0 purchase and I get emailed the transaction.

No sound through sound bar. Sound bar works with Roku. Its simple sound bar plugs into TV with 3.5 mm jack. Does not work with firestick. I will try trouble shooting.

And for content, there is lots with prime membership, but not a whole lot for free (no prime). ROKU has lots of free content/channels. I will keep trying but is there a trick to this ?

    • I'm so happy I got the 4k Max. Now I can direct stream H.265 directly to the Firestick using Plex without any issues. Before the old 4k stick could not handle 4k resolution with H.265 encoding.
      What's special about 4k with H.265 encoding?

    • just had an hour long argument over the $10 price difference that was "promised" weeks ago.

the supervisor said that $39.99 was limited time deal and I didn't qualify (we know it was price error, she was basically lying to me).

she said that cs makes "inappropriate promises" that they cannot keep. I had 3 of these types of refunds I was trying to collect from 3 different purchases and 3 different CS chat logs.

so anyone dealing with Amazon CS, please get all refunds done that day, not "when your shipment arrives" sort of deals because they will not keep those promises, only your money.

    • No issues for me. Both on the native YouTube app as well as Smart Tube Next.

Try going to app info and clearing cache and clearing data?
There's no app info option to clear cache and data unlike the Mibox 3 UI. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I guess that would've cleared cache and data, but the problem is still there. I'll contact support for the fire stick.

Newer TVs would be much better and probably less costly than this one. Mostly, I sell the devices to friends who want a good, cheap starter IPTV or Netflix/Disney/Youtube device rather than getting ripped off by box sellers who prey on unsuspecting consumers...

    • How did your pairing experience go? I upgraded a 4K (which didn't have this issue) with a Max and now my paired Harmony Hub usually loses connection after I turn everything off. I generally have to use the Max remote to connect the Harmony, the pairing is still intact but manual connection is required. Never had to do that with the 4K. None of the fixes I've found online have worked (trying to connect via WiFi doesn't detect the Max even when it's on and sitting there ready to pair, whether in pairing mode or not). Have you been able to get it to work? I like the extra speed but I'm close to returning it to try the Cube instead or going back to the 4K.
The Cube was delivered on Friday and since setting it up I've had nothing but problems. Most of the time even the supplied Amazon remote won't power/wake it up. When it does turn on I get lots of interruptions when watching content (maybe a dozen times while watching a movie) that the content wasn't currently available, try again later, but when I tried immediately it worked fine until the next time. I also had issues where the screen would just freeze, then pause, then if I pushed play to continue it would go back earlier in the content. I was using the Ethernet adapter so if anything the connection should have been more stable, not less. It also didn't seem to be any faster than the Max.

May just be a dud but for now I'm just going to go back to the 4K and return the Max and Cube, apparently slow and steady wins the fight. My next device is going to have actual power on/off, assuming such a thing is still available.

    • How do people tolerate using a remote instead of a phone keyboard btw? I only recently started using my TV's apps because of the Plex transcode issue, but I miss having my phone keyboard, and the apps do tend to be a bit slow to load by comparison. On the other hand, using the remote to pause is more convenient...
And I always wondered how people tolerated being tied to their phones all the time. Each has their benefits for sure but using a phone to type on the fire TV wins hands down.

I actually have tivimate premium. I tried out helix IPTV for a month and live TV just isn't for me. Don't watch sports or the news. Haven't had cable TV for at least 10 years.

Honestly, my setup is pretty damn sweet. Anything I want to watch I can watch with <5 minutes of searching. Movies, TV shows, sports, music. Whatever.

    • That's no problem, not a matter of know how, it's a matter of free time. I'll reset it this week and move on.

I am using these, bought them for $15 shipped at that time, work great. Although I am currently just running one thumbdrive as I tried them out. Have a few hubs at home with ethernet already as well. I like that you can use the external drive as internal storage or to move larger apps... Haven't tried it since I set it up on the max, but can I still use it as storage for PVR functions on Tivimate, when it's formatted to internal or does it have to be external. And if I use a hub with more than one drive, can I set each one up differently?
You got me on that one, I've never used tivimate so I have no idea of internal/external settings for that app. I haven't had a chance to test out the external storage limits yet, I'm still waiting on an OTG cable. I do have multiple powered usb hubs (without ethernet) though, so when it arrives I'll let you know.

    • Lol I didn't have the heart to tell you that. Reading a couple of different sites it's a common problem and the most common solution was a factory reset. Anyways cheers man and I hope it works out.

Multiple reviews claimed it did. You also need an OTG Y-Cable. One of the Y's lines has to continue to run the Firestick's original power adapter to the firestick, and the other goes to the hub. Without the OTG Y cable the firestick cannot draw enough power from the hub alone to function properly. I appreciate the input but think I'll roll the dice.
