Also the CPU is faster. The Acer is 2 cores 4 threads, the Costco is 4 cores 4 threads at a higher frequency than the 4 core 8 threads of the Microsoft one.
SSD would be important and make things feel faster vs a 2.5" HDD, so for me that instantly would rule out the microsoft 1TB 5400rpm laptop unless you are willing to get another SSD and put it in yourself and reinstall windows and what not, but that would add to the cost.
If money wasn't an issue then I'd get the Costco one. To me it is worth the extra $150 vs the Acer in terms of the graphics card + cpu difference. Ram you lose out on 4gb, but if it's light use you might not notice it, and you can always upgrade that if you want, you can't upgrade the cpu and gpu of a 99% of laptops.
It would be difficult to live with a 5400rpm drive so if you add an $100 250GB ssd that's $650. $1K vs $650 is a pretty big difference. If you find out that the Microsoft Dell with self installed SSD is good enough to run the games you play then it might be alright to save the money. If you do any kind of heavier gaming, want this to run games like 2-3 years from now, or do any video/photo productivity that needs gpu power then it's the Costco Dell. So really it's down to the Costco and Microsoft Dells because if you spend the Acer money you might as well get the Costco one. Between those two know they are almost two different computers because of the hard drives and gpu. Once you upgrade the hard drive then it's the GPU, and $450 is a huge difference to get a mobile dedicated gpu but it does allow you to do some stuff you can't with an integrated one.
Also if you can check out the screens of each that would be ideal, that can be a deal breaker for some.
Thank you for your input
