    • Only for one day? Isn't it normally a week or so long?

    • Last year I had their frappuccino from multiple locations and was quite disappointment. Either they changed their formulation, changed their ingredients, or perhaps the barristas were overworked/didn't care. Going to try again and if the results are the same then sadly I'll have to get my frappuccino fix elsewhere :(

    • huh they did this last Thursday with 50% off iced expresso as well. Maybe they're spreading the 2 week happy hour into one day per week sort of thing to lower the workload for employees...???

Depends when you go. If it's during Frappuccino Happy Hour, the drinks are going to be subpar to be honest. If you go during a not busy time to a store that cares, they'll consistently do a good job. What was wrong with the last few times?

    • How do you become a rewards member? It's asking me for a card. Where do I get a card from? Why can't I just sign up on the website like any other reward programs and get a card mailed to me.

I think that's the key. Starbucks' normal prices are quite high so I tend to go during their Frappuccino Happy Hour. The last few times the drinks were so diluted and awful tasting that I threw it out. You'd think they are running these promotions to get you hooked. Instead we get subpar drinks that actually make us NOT want to buy it - and even less so when it's full price.

In any case, I'll give it another try outside of these promotions and hopefully that solves the problem.

That sounds very accurate. It's the usual price, quality and speed dilemma. During Happy Hour, you're going to get a drink with residual water, incorrect amounts of ice, incorrect amounts of syrups and poor toppings. No one wants to wait very long during Happy Hour and therefore quality will suffer. In theory it's supposed to attract new customers, but between the wait times and the low quality drinks, I think that's why it's been discontinued.

And yes, I would suggest trying it outside during the period. When I get my Frapuccinos made, they always have good flavours, but I only go when it's not busy.

    • I've was given a very sub par cappuccino once. Didn't realize it until after I left Starbucks for a while. It was so bad that I had to go to another Starbucks and asked to have it remade. They did and also gave me a voucher for the hassle. This was about 5 years ago

I just signed up so I figured out the process. You need a Starbucks gift card (presumably with some money still on it) then you download the app and find out it only accepts US zip code (at least the Android version) so you can't sign up from the app using a Canada postal code.

Then you find out if you sign up using the website you can enter a Canadian postal code, but it also wants a full address.

Then you find out that it seemingly randomly doesn't like certain email addresses.

After you jump through their broken, Canada-oblivious hoops, maybe you can be a Rewards member too.

You probably won't be able to mobile order, but you should be able to pull up the card on your phone at the cash just fine. For iPhones, you have to make sure your iTunes account is set to Canada and not US so that you download the Canadian version and not the US version - if there is an equivalent to that for android I don't know.

It will usually automatically take the discount off at the checkout page.

    • Crazy how much sugar/syrup goes into one of these normally. I do heavy customization to cut down on the calories.... it isn't even about calories, just find it way too sweet normally.

Just wanted to add a follow-up as I went yesterday, outside of their promotions. First of all, the place was PACKED but I decided to get one anyone since I was already there. And the verdict - it was actually quite good! So now it makes me think perhaps the baristas are simply more flustered when they have the frapuccino promotions? Perhaps the added pressure pushes them over since obviously even when it is busy they are still able to perform. I guess I can forget about these frapuccino promotions since 50% off is still a waste when you can't enjoy it.

It is not one time use.. just need to scan you member card or phone and can buy as many. I will apply any grande or venti Frappuccino on the bill. Can pay also with cash.
