    • That is quite a misleading title OP. You should add OFF after $250.

    • LOL, I tought the price was 250$ from the title.
Then realized that it was the saving that was 250$.

    • Man, I remember when you could get a Nexus direct from them on clearance for ~$250, lol.

      $500-600 & I'd bite.

    • Just a heads up, there's a lot of reddit threads about ordering from Google.

It seems some people have had their packages go missing (lost/undelivered/stolen/etc) and Google customer service was tough to get a resolution from. Many posters got bounced from Google to shipping company and back and forth.

If they got tired of being bounced around and charge-back on their credit cards, and used their google accounts to purchase, Google can (as per their TOS, and as per those posts it seems like they will) cancel that Google account.

Sounds like a horror story I wouldn't want to endure.

Thats good to know. That could be disastrous if they lock out your gmail for example. I'm going to be ordering off separate throwaway accounts from now on just to be safe.

    • experts, is this even a good deal. I am on the market for a new phone after koodo just cancelled my pixel 2 XL order and its not in promo now. (wtf!)

    • I received mine a few weeks ago in 1 day. I live 2.5 hours from Toronto in the country.
Great service. Great product. (I bought it when it hit $750)

    • Personally, not as good of a deal as there was on the 2 with Koodo. $360 all in for 2XL.

Otherwise I'd wait for the 3a(XL) - seems like a better phone, has a headphone jack, but worse processor. The 3 seems to have a lot of QC issues.

If money is not an issue, i would say wait until Pixel 4. I am still on Pixel 1 and no issues. Pixel 4 is going to have the more needed RAM ( Finally ) and hole punch camera

Money is an issue that's why i am on RFD lol, i wanted to get a great deal and not pay full price for a phone tbh...
I am so bummed out because koodo cancelled on my pixel 2 xl deal :(

    • 250 off is a reasonable, but not great deal. Depends on how immediately you want a new phone. OnePlus 7 is gonna be released next month (most likely) at somewhere near this price, and its camera will almost certainly be nearly as good as the Pixel 3's (especially if you install GCam), plus it'll definitely come with higher specs (128gb storage minimum, likely 8gb ram minimum too, and snapdragon 855).

I got the 2XL from Koodo (Walmart) a few weeks ago. It's a good phone for the price point, but the deal is no longer available and it has its own QC issues. Mine suffers from terrible blue shift (off angle) and the colors keep shifting between blue and pink tint whenever the screen brightness auto-adjusts (happens every 5 seconds when I'm sitting under the pot lights at home, drives me crazy). It's so bad that I can't trust the screen color enough to do any light photo editing in snapseed because I don't know which color temp it's giving me.

I can live with the phone because it was cheap. If it was anywhere near $700, I'd buy from Google and exchange until I got a good one. I got the second last one at Walmart so I'm stuck with this one.

Warranty with Koodo phones can also be a massive headache. I got the runaround several times with my Koodo Nexus 6P and finally had to send it to Futuretel for warranty service. They replaced the screen but messed up the aluminum body while they were at it. With the Essential Phone, tons of people got the runaround getting bounced between Koodo, Telus, and Essential supposedly being responsible for warranty. Luckily Essential stepped up and replaced mine. If you buy through Google, they'll just send you a new one and a prepaid box to send back the faulty one.

Not enough info about the 3a (specs, price) to compare, but it could certainly be worth the wait if budget is the more important factor.

Ah - that might explain why I might not have the problem - I shut off auto brightness (have had really bad experiences with battery usage) and haven't seen the screen tint issue a lot of people have mentioned. Interesting!

I concur. The Pixel 2XL had the potential to be such an amazing phone but the screen and QC issues just killed it. I had 2 Pixel 2XLs and both of them had a blue tint. The unreliable display and color representation made it impossible for me to know how my photos were actually seen by others on IG/social media. I didn't even know where to start editing my photos.

Pixel 3/XL displays are so much better and fixed this issue.

You might've just gotten a good one, mine behaves like the one on the left.

I've tried turning off adaptive brightness, but that doesn't seem to totally kill auto-brightness, as it still adjusts itself if I'm in a dark room versus outside.

    • I'm personally waiting for the pixel 3a. The headphone jack is a big selling point for me 😃.
