    • Top Tier phones need platinum or ultra plans.

Why? Every deal that's posted with carriers implies this. It's just stating the deals are for different price tiers.

    • Hopefully there are similar Koodo Medium tab deals as Black Friday!

Where can you see the list of "select" unlocked phones?

    • Generally on these BestBuy has some pretty aggressive promo's for $0 devices with Giftcards on plans. I'm not sure how much it affected unlocked outright phones. But if going on contract is your cup of tea these days are some of the better times to do it.

    • are the gift card available for corporate plans as well ? I know that costco refuses to give me gift card as i have a corporate discounts with rogers.

    • I know lots of people have opted for plans to get the lowest price on a phone, cancelled the next day, and paid the balance. This was for devices on Koodo plans though. Does this same tactic work with other carriers?

    • Only "deal" for Koodo is the iPhone 7. And only a 100 GC.

      Hard pass.

2 years ago, my friend picked up a Huawei gr5 for $0 on a small plan with a $225gc- that's the best deal ever albeit on an entry level phone. But he's not a phone guy so doesn't care.

I want to know that too
      Will it work?

Of course! You can always cancel whenever you want now and just pay the device balance, ever since the CRTC changed the rules!

The difference is Koodo applies credits to the device balance, where the other carriers apply them to the upfront price only, so with Koodo you end up with a sometimes MUCH lower device balance.

    • Judging from the listing link, looks like deals were better during BF and I would expect BD/BW deals to be equal to or better than BF.

Not much to get enthused about here. Deals seem especially weak this season. Best offers were earlier in the year (June-Sept), which is counter-seasonal and opposite model clearance dates. Perhaps suppliers saw slowing demand early and limited Fall orders. All Apple parts suppliers have guided lower based on reduced orders from Apple.

US tariffs on Chinese goods along with a weak CAD may be playing a role this season.
