    • Noticed that "The Hate U Give" is currently also free on Google Play Movies & TV (still free on Cineplex store).

    • Classic Cineplex- do something nice but cancel early with no notice. Not the first time they have done this.

    • It's because of the failed merger. They can't afford to give away free anymore.
That's what I'm thinking as well.

    • Just Mercy is an incredible film. I saw it at TIFF last year and it got a long standing ovation.
      Fantastic movie

    • I'd read somewhere the movies would be available until at least June 15 - that's why I was going to watch a few today/tmrw. So disappointed in Cineplex to end it early - seems like it was just a corporate move to show they were caring - BOO!

Just watched Fruitvale - wow! I refreshed a few times as it was just spinning for a long time (like ~7 mins) - once it started, it ran smoothly. If you have probs loading, just refresh and hit the play/pause and then it will show. What I'm trying to say is, it seems like it has to fully download before it starts playing, unlike say, Disney+. GL!

      cheers,
      :)

    • Yeah, too bad they didn't specify an expiry date.... I only added Do the Right Thing and Pariah earlier in the week. I watched Akeelah and the Bee for the first time last night and it was good. I think last night I added Spiderverse and it was still free.

For the record I watched in on a ROKU tv through the app and the quality was good.
I watched through the Cineplex store app then cast to the tv through Apple TV. I found casting through chromcast to be horrid. Couldn’t even watch.

    • Aw I wish they had listed an expiry date for the movies :( the huge list is down to 6 movies now: The Hate U Give, Spiderman, Monsters and Men, Fruitvale Station, Blindspotting, and Akeelah and the Bee.

Was having trouble adding that one into my library for some reason, and see that I now need to pay if I want to rent it.

ok so I'm not crazy yesterday I was gonna stream something but Spider-Man has a rental cost and the list which was HUGE was reduced to like 7.

That's weird because I checked yesterday. A large selection is still there, and I clicked through with purchasing Spiderverse and the price was crossed out and showed $0.00.
I had already rented it previously, was using the built-in Samsung TV Cineplex app, and was logged in to my Cineplex account.

    • Using this Cineplex Download Manager can we keep movies to watch indefinitely? Or only within 30 days as per Cineplex's rental rules?
Same 30 days, but of course there are techniques to record them to watch indefinitely. Gave you enough hint :P

I think they are no longer showing some of the free ones as being free even though they still are. 12 Years a Slave, for example, is still free even though it's not on the list I see.

great film - it also made the career of Michael B Jordan i believe

Yeah, tough watch but a good movie. Also for the people asking about Black Panther (facetiously or not), this is I believe the debut film from Ryan Coogler, who also directed Black Panther as well as Creed.

    • Watched The Hate You Give with the whole family last night. Was a very good movie with very current themes. Was a good discussion starter with the kids. Watched Hurricane and 12 years a slave today, both excellent although I had already seen them. For some reason kept getting an error message when trying to view Amistad, but the rest worked flawlessly. Big props to cineplex for doing this.

    • Very similar experience and sentiment to the post above me. For me it was Just Mercy, and it died 3 times during viewing, not to mention problems w/ Chromecast.

Glad that Cineplex is doing their part to support the movement. Wish I could give them more than that but their streaming platform is lacking.

Props to the OP for sharing though. Don't think I would've found out otherwise.

    • Tried watching Selma tonight. After multiple tries finally got the streaming to work from my computer, but it then died 75% of the way through. Many better alternatives out there for these movies. Glad I got to try this for free, so I won't waste money on cineplex.com in the future.

Nice try Cineplex, but unfortunately a fail.

    • How many people will it bring to their site/platform? They're most likely doing this with the hopes of it turning into a loss leader, not just out of the goodness of their hearts. It's sad to say, but the truth is, large corporations like this are always thinking about the bottom line and stock price.
I can live with that (not ideal)...only because it provides people with access to the media and added incentive to watch and perhaps learn a thing or two.

    • I did not have any issues first few days, now I'm getting more pausing/buffering. I guess more people are now catching on to this deal and bogging down their network.
Same. no issues watching on Saturday evening around 9pm PT but by Sunday evening around 8pm, there was buffering and poorer quality.
