    • The offers are good as in two free movies and popcorn. Glad to see the 50% off poutine is back. But Cineplex sharply got rid of the upgrade pass because upcharging is a moneymaker for them and most movies will require upgrade charges in addition to the free passes.

      And at $50, I gues the $30 days are long gone.

    • Hey, at least they are releasing some coupons in this Holiday bundle... they completely skipped a Summer coupon bundle, which was probably just testing the waters to see if they could completely get rid of offering coupons, but seeing something now means they are hurting, or received tons of questions/complaints for not releasing an offer during the middle of the year

    • Remember when a night out meant going out with a friend and getting a drink for each and a popcorn?

      Not anymore.

      I mean, this is still a decent deal as you get 2 tickets and 2 popcorns. But that's not 2 movie night out packages

      They tried to do a promo at 7-11 with Amazon gift cards.

      Supposedly they allocated $100k for the month long promotion that people killed in a couple days

      Here is a post from the thread regarding what happened:

      I have spoken to a district manager in Ontario and the corporate office in Surrey,BC. The promo was cut short this morning as it was hotter than they could have ever imagined.

      I was told it ended for two reasons;

      - people were turning it into a business, they had some people buy up to $3000 of Amazon gift cards. They were also finding people selling the free $25 Cineplex gift cards online for slightly less and making a profit.

      - when promos like this launch they work with the company offering the free gift card on limits. In this case Cineplex was offering $100,000 of free gift cards. By the end of day two is was discovered they had already given away over $118,000 in Cineplex cards resulting in a loss for 7-11.

      Needless to say, it’s disappointing for those like myself who missed out on the promo. At the same time, I find it hard to believe those at corporate didn’t realize offering anything free with an Amazon gift card this close to Prime Day wouldn’t be this popular.

      In all honesty i agree with your assessment of the value, but at the same time theatres are having a heck of a time turning a profit on the movies themselves, let alone concessions. We could say movie prices were $5 bucks back in the day too and say that's not the case anymore too. At the end of the day it's a pretty good deal to me. I don't usually buy concessions at all, and never really did cuz i was super cheap.

      The fact we are getting this as pure bonus, on top of the gift card value I think is pretty generous. I don't usually need an incentive to go watch a movie i'm interested in seeing on the big screen, so it's great to have this either way. I don't think this is necessarily meant to be a "movie night out" package, so much as they are literally just throwing freebies at you.

      And for the record, I usually watch on average 2 movies a month as part of a dad's/boys night out after the kids go to bed. So i remember when a night out meant not having to wake up the next day to kids jumping on you and being able to sleep in.... and not go to work :)

    • The limited time constraint on the coupons IMO make this deal warm at best. That time of the year most movies are not worth watching.
