Forum user crazycoward just gave us a heads up about a new offer for SCENE members. Starting now, SCENE members can save an extra 10% off the already discounted price of Tuesday film tickets.

To take advantage of this offer, you'll need to have your SCENE card on hand when you order your tickets, which must be purchased on the day of the screening. This offer is valid for admission tickets to Tuesday films, including IMAX and Ultra AVX screenings.

If you aren't already a SCENE member, you can register for free on the Cineplex website (you'll earn 250 points by signing up).

    • I've received my first timeplay 100 after only a few days. Put in a code this weekend and waiting for it to go through.

On another note, has anyone bought tickets online recently? Have they changed the system? You used to be able to open the PDF file from the browser after purchase, but now it states that it goes straight to email (without the in-option browser). I know it's not a huge thing but it's nice to have the option if you accidentally typo your email or spam filters are acting up.

I don't think I've ever received any of mine. I've earned them at least 3-4 times as well.
it takes a long- ***** time...complain to timeplay and cineplex and they can follow up on it at least.

    • Anyone know how you get the Scene ponts from the Timeplay app? I don't see anywhere inside the app to enter your Card #. Does it ask after you're awarded pts?
you should have your timeplay app linked to an email address. i should have sent you an email and from there would be a link to claim your points and ask for your info

    • Cineplex is sure putting in work with their Scene program. They're doing a great job making points easy to get (movies, timeplay, facebook trivia). Especially since 1000 points are redeemable for any type of movie, it's great.

P.S. So how does Timeplay work? I've seen it a bunch of times but never actually used it since I was unaware they actually gave Scene points. I just got the app. Is it an easy hookup when in the theatre? Do you get 100 points regardless? Also says maximum 25 pincodes. I know that means 25 movies so it won't go by fast, but there is a limit then.

P.P.S When redeeming Scene points online to purchase tickets, do you have to print immediately or will the tickets be available in your email inbox? Just curious, because I don't have a wireless printer, so will I have to do it on the computer connected to the printer or can I buy tickets on my laptop?
When your in theatre, connect to the timeplay wifi network and then launch the app on your phone. As long as you get into the game you get 100 scene points, the top 10 get 100 scene points, plus a free large drink with purchase of popcorn (at least, this is what it was for June, havent been to movies in July yet, i believe it changes sometimes - in May were also getting free digital movie rental).

If you do print your own tickets, it will go into your email inbox. They also have mobile tickets available for pickup at the theatre.

    • Yes, you can stack 10% off with BOGO nestea...thats the only way im watching movies this summer with my bro...two tickets for 5.39, plus 100 scene points still earned.

yes, nowadays each movie ticket gets 200 points (100 on purchase, 100 if you play the timeplay app), so not too hard to get to a free movie.

SCENE card is a no brainer if you watch movies...id have to think it is probably the second most valuable loyalty program in canada behind optimum

SCENE is free, why WOULDN'T you get it? Just leave the damn card in your car, or if you have a smartphone, you don't even need the card! Last time I went to Prometheus, I went with 4 other people. NONE of them had SCENE cards and they told me that I could buy the tickets for them if I wanted because I had one.. by using my SCENE visa and the points I got from buying the movies, I went to Prometheus in UltraAVX 3D for free. I use my SCENE visa for any big purchases that don't need warranty.

    • Nevermind, I answered my own question. You do get points for each transaction. So if you have friends with no SCENE card, buy each ticket separately online and you'll get 120 points per ticket!
Actually that's only correct up to a certain point. You can only buy 2 general admission tickets and 4 child admission tickets per day in this way: 1 general+2 child = 200 points (children are only 50 points) + 20 points for online = 220. You can do this twice in one day so total you can earn in one day is 440 pts. You can not use your scene card 4 times in one day to buy 4 tickets for you and your 3 friends. You'll only get 200 points. Or 240 points if you purchased online.

What are the maximum SCENE points that I can earn per transaction at a Cineplex Entertainment theatre?

A: There is a maximum of 200 points per transaction at Cineplex Entertainment theatres. You will earn 100 points for your individual ticket purchase, for up to 2 unique performances per day. If you purchase children’s tickets during your transaction, you will be awarded with up to 100 bonus points (50 points per child ticket, max 2 per day), as children under 14 years of age cannot become members) .

Why can't I use the SCENE card more than twice in one day?

A: For security purposes and to prevent fraudulent use of the program, a SCENE member can only use their SCENE card twice in one day to earn points for two admission purchases for themselves (i.e., member sees two movies in one day).

This more or less sums it up. It's basically an on-screen interactive game you can play before the movie starts as long as you have a smartphone and its corresponding app. You get 100 Scene points just for playing.
They don't do this in every theater though, there are only about 12 theaters that do this and pretty much are all in the Toronto area,
so what kind of games do you get to play?

    • Lol why would they give you half off tickets to the opening day of spiderman when they can sell out at regular price.
    • Yep. For example, Spiderman opens tomorrow. However, tickets for the movie will be at REGULAR prices rather than the usual Tuesday discount tickets. Next Tuesday July 10 iis when the discount tix are available.
That's stupid. The discount to should apply to all movies regardless of release day. They figure, that people would just pay full price anyways.

    • ^So stupid for Cineplex to not discount the Amazing Spider-Man tickets today... doesn't matter, I saw it last night and then went again today to see it at an EMPIRE theatre, which did honour the Tuesday discount for Spidey.
    • No it doesn't work with releases that are opening that Tuesday, it seems it works if the movie came out the Thursday or Friday prior..

    • To clarify: you still get your Scene points!

As someone earlier mentioned, the different prices online = the "regular" Tuesday price and the price with the extra 10% off.

Scene's Facebook page confirmed that we still get points. I can personally confirm that we still get points -- I got the regular 100 points yesterday.

From a business standpoint, I don't get why they'd give both the discount and the points, but hey, we benefit, so....
If we didn't still get points then this wouldn't exactly be saving 10% MORE. We would simply be redeeming our 100 points for the equivalent 10%.

    • Pretty sure discount applies to all movies. You won't see as big of a difference in savings as you would with a normal movie, if you choose to go with an UltraAVX movie. The addon for 3D and AVX = regular price tacked on top of discounted ticket price.

    • TO answer the above questions. The drink and Popcorn deal has been dead for almost a year now. Use to be Telus Tuesday deals and then dropped support and Cineplex dropped the Drink/Popcorn combo deal.

For the other question on the $9.75 price. That could be the Tuesday pricing with 3D cost for the ticket. Unless you are seeing the price with Amazing Spider-Man 2D show and that is the theaters regular price. Sadly, that price is correct for this Tuesday as Sony distributors aren't allowing us to apply the Tuesday price for its opening release day (form what i was told by managers) Although you can still get your 10% Off the ticket price still on the Tuesday
      This totally sucks...
