My kindle book library backlog is suddenly starting to look like my STEAM library backlog.

    • You can also get most of the AmazonClassics for free from the US website (if your Kindle is set for US) here.

If you're using an Android and don't have a Kindle just yet, install the Kindle app and it should let you add it to your account. You can uninstall the app after adding a book and access the books from your browser here https://read.amazon.com/

    • I was surprised to see Rudyard Kipling books on the list. But yes, he's been dead for over 70 years (he died in 1936). US Copyright is tricky. https://copyright.cornell.edu/publicdomain

Canadian copyright is shorter (generally life + 50 years) but there is a history of US attacks on Canadian sites that only respect Canadian terms.

For example, In Canada, George Orwell's stuff is in the public domain. But try to find it.

I read W. E. B. du Bois' "The Souls of Black Folk" because it came built into my original Kobo (I had never heard of it before that). It was fascinating and moving. It is one of the Amazon Classics.
