View allAnd, off topic, but I'd be more worried about all the plastic coffee pods (Keurig, Tassim, even if some are recyclable, who does really take the time to separate and put the coffee in the compost bin, and the plastic in the recycle bin?) than q-tips….
I just checked the ones I currently have from Walmart's Equate brand, and their stems are also made of paper.
My purchases of these things is quite infrequent, but I'm pretty sure some previous ones had plastic. So at least that's a good change.
Btw, these are also useful for cleaning with alcohol, for example thermal paste off of a CPU or heatsink.
Q-tips aren't made of plastic.
What are Q-tips® cotton swabs made of?
Q-tips® cotton swabs are made with 100% pure cotton (non-sterile)- all natural materials (unlike some other cotton swab brands). The applicator is made of bonded paper and paperboard which is sustainably sourced and specially manufactured to retain its form and to allow for flexibility and safety in use. Adhesive is used to maintain the attachment of the cotton fiber to the applicator.

You can toss them into your compost bin.
I've always used them for cleaning ears too, and I try to be very careful not to go more than a couple of millimeters in the ear canal. But as this article says, accidents are called accidents for a reason: https://www.cedars-sinai.org/blog/is-it ... swabs.html
I've heard it said that nothing smaller than an elbow should be placed in your ear, so it does make me nervous. Better than those sticking car keys (o_O) in their ears, but still...
And the plastic waste is also troubling. From the news article posted earlier in this thread:
Not cool.
It's because of a repost, 2 threads were merged.
Double post not necessary.
Every time there is a deal poste about Q-tips swabs there is a funny guy who tries to turn the thread into a flaming thread.. should we use this for ear canal cleaning or not...
I should not have called you Dr. Dicecube, but Troll Dicecube…
here… you can find another post of this guy saying the exact same thing https://forums.redflagdeals.com/amazon- ... #p31461662

Maybe he shouldn't because Q-tips are great to remove black make-up in hard to reach places.
I actually ordered the regular 500-pack via S&S for $3.12 (after 15%) last month, which comes to 0.006239 per q-tip... so it can be even cheaper.
