    • Thanks OP. Changed my email. Will have to wait and see if I get the 5k points.
Protip for gmail users: If you still want Petro Canada emails to go to your gmail account, use the "+" trick (ie: instead of yourname@gmail.com, use yourname+petrocanada@gmail.com). You'll still get the Petro Canada emails and they will think its a new email address.

I don't believe you have to change your email or perhaps anything at all, just log in and update.

    • Petro Canada wants us to update our information because we can only redeem points to your province.
As an example, If your location information in Alberta, you can't redeem points in BC. The points in locked in the province you are in.

    • Petro-Points are so crappy. "Collect 6 million points to earn a car wash."

The only reason I have an account is to link it to my RBC card for 3 cents off per litre on gas.

    • 10,000 points equals 5¢ savings on 200 L.
5 000 points = 5 dollar value but you will have to go there 5-8 times . Not that great but good to know.

Great tip. Plus, it helps with filtering and/or identifying source of a spam email.

I miss the days when we could redeem these petro points for Asia Miles through Sears Club (got enough points for a free business class ticket this way...)

This is a new security feature!

My account was totally wiped out from somebody in AB, and I live in QC, so obviously it was way to easy to scam this system!

I called, and they instantly gave me all the points back, and issued a new card, but that becomes a huge security issue on their part!
IDStorms wrote: Someone cashed out 95K points from my account in Calgary... I live in Quebec!

Actually, they first earned 24 points at one station, then redeemed the 95K at another station soon after, so I'm assuming the first was a test to see what my balance was.

I phoned in, and they gave me back my points, cancelled my old card, and will send a new one.

Question is how was this done in the first place?

They said it was a computer glitch... Yeah right!!!
      IDStorms wrote: Possibly...

Fake a card and make a purchase to see if it works, and see the balance, then redeem all the points.

I asked what it was redeemed for, since there's nothing to purchase for exactly 95K points.

      Jul 02, 2020: +24 POINTS
      Jul 02, 2020: PPTS 1.00 OFF C-STORE... ...-95,000 POINTS

I need Inspector Clouseau on this. ;)

On it's own it's meh but if you combine with Ask Canadians survey and are willing to spend some time to do them then the points can come quite easily.
