July 16 Update: It looks like you can't actually combine the sale price with the gas card offer. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Looking for a new, fuel-efficient and affordable vehicle? Hesitating to buy a car because of high gas prices? What if you didn’t have to pay for gas for up to three years? Right now at Hyundai, when you purchase an Accent L 3DR/4DR 5-speed 2010 or an Elantra L 5-speed 2010 (with 0 % purchase financing for 60 months) you will receive a $3,000 Esso gas gift card. The card is applicable at any participating Esso gas station in Canada.

You can pick from two models -- the Elantra L which starts from $11,999 or the Accent L3 from $9,999 or L4 from $10,999. The 2010 Elantra is considered one of the Top Recommended Vehicles for 2010 by Edmonds.com. The Accent has been recognized with the 2009 Best Bet, in the subcompact category, at the Car Book Best Bet Awards.

The Esso Canada gas gift card has no expiry date and is not available with any other offers. This promotion is valid across Canada.

    • Grade rebate not applicable to Accent. You should always only be willing to pay a grand or two less than what they're asking.

Thanks fakishan....I don't think there is too much room to bargain on the accent...we got it down from 14,700 to 14K (plus the taxes and frieght made the final figure to 17700).

We were asked numerous times by the salesman to give him our credit card and license. I dont understand why they would ask for those even before we finalized anything. Anyways some sense prevailed in us and we didn't hand it over.

    • A friend just purchased a 2010 Accent GL (auto, PW, PD, AC, Keyless) 4 door sedan for 17700 OTD (14000 + frieght + taxes). Financed over 60 months came in just under 300 per month. Was told the 500 grad rebate is not valid on the accent. Can someone please comment if this was an ok deal or we overpaid??> :( > :(

Back in May, I priced a Hatchback GL auto using a CCC report with 3% on dealer invoice at $17615.3892. No idea if a dealer would have sold at that price though and the factory to dealer rebate was at $2,250 in May, not sure if that's changed in July.

You bought the car with your friend? Is this a new form of socio/enviro-car sharing scheme?

Anyway tell your "friend" that you they should have done their research before signing the papers. Even if I told you he got ripped off what difference would it make? The deal is done - enjoy the car and don't worry about it.

    • Is the cash purchase discount still on? Is it 3k in gas card or 3k in cash discount? Anybody got more info? I rather the cash discount vs the gas card as I can get a higher return getting gas elsewhere than at Esso.

    • The fine print said gas card not available with cash purchase price (ie. $9999 Accent L), so cash price or esso card. Saw the ad on the paper, for a second I though 9999 plus you get a 3000 gas card, but nah.

    • Damn I just saw the national post insert.
Confirms Accent 3dr L (website lists 4dr L too though) and Elantra L, Esso gas card.

    • Nothing new here, called a dealer, it is an Esso gas card or the cash discount and it only applies to the Accent L or Elantra L base models... I too got excited
