    • Need to buy wheel + tires (x-ice snow preferred). Is this a good deal or wait for early November?

Last year in November, got x-ice snow 19" at CT for ~$1250 with ~$350 as cashback in CT money. Need some expert opinion. Thanks!

    • Canadian Tire rightly deserves their bad reputations so not even going to debate that with you.
Care to explain why? Have you personally had a bad experience with CT auto service?
    • Not sure why CT gets such a bad rep for service. There are plenty of bad techs elsewhere too...

If you're so concerned, schedule a change during the week in the day. At least you're likely to get someone who isn't there after high school to do the change.

    • Looking to get all seasons for my CRV. Bridgestone Turanza Quiettrack.

Good to buy now or wait till spring? $945 all in.
    • I buy my winter tires in the spring, usually at CTC , ( not a big fan of CTC) as they are on clearance; December-Jan for summer tires. Clearance deals can be wildly discounted. A real PITA trying to find a full set from different stores , but sometimes you can get lucky.
Found my summer tires for less than half price, last Jan., so far, so good. 😉

But then you have to go to Canadian Tire to get the repair/replacement done. Never will let any of their service techs touch my car, sorry.

    • Looks like this is a decent deal available at the moment? Comparing to black circles or quattro you're not paying that much more?

      CrossClimate 2 225/50 R17 V (98) - Prices just for tires before tax

      Blackcircles - $1001 (after $100 coupon and $70 MIR)
      Costco - $1030 after $130 coupon.

So $30 more but when you factor in the tire install and the benefits that come with it, seems like it's easily for the $30 more?

    • Pretty bad compared to labour day deal.

I wish I pulled the trigger and purchased my winter tires that day.

      For Comparison:

      (Labour Day Deal - 20% off / Tire Price = $204.99)
      4 x 225 65 r17 Michelin - X Ice Snow + Installation - $849.68

      (Today Deal - $130 off / Tire Price = $229.99)
      4 x 225 65 r17 Michelin - X Ice Snow + Installation - $1001.09

    • i ordered Michelin tires from Costco on labour day. The order shows as shipped but Costco still hasn't contacted me to arrange an installation. Anyone has similar experience?
Same here. Received on September 19, still no call or followup email asking me to pick them up. I checked with the warehouse and they told me that unless I get the final email, they aren't ready. As a courtesy, they did check and didn't have them in their stock, so they suspected that someone signed for them and the tires were all dumped in a storage area but haven't been brought out to their floor yet.

I ordered mine on the Labor Day sale and they arrived at the warehouse about a week later. They called me to schedule an install - they said they're trying to line up appointments ASAP because they're going to start getting busy and don't want to have a bunch of tires taking up space at the warehouse. You may want to contact them to check, they told me I had 2 weeks after they arrived at the warehouse to either schedule an installation or pick them up, or they'd be returned for a refund

    • The $130 off is valid until 10/23/22 and there should be mail in rebates available in the next couple of weeks. Assuming your desired tires are in stock, it might be worth waiting a bit more.

Should be able to see updated rebates here soon: http://www.tirepromotions.ca/en/TireLink
Those rebates (almost) never stack with Costco prices.

    • The ones I got which were 1/2 Cdn made and 1/2 Chinese made were CC2's. So they're sourcing both here and abroad to provide stock. My order went in on Labour Day and arrived 11 days later at the Costco store I selected.

Check the Sunday before Thanksgiving for stock, then if there's a sale on the Monday, set your alarm for 5 or 6am and order it online then.

    • if i buy the rim from Wheels (Costco's partner) as well, will the rim send to my house and I need to bring the rims to Costco Tire Center the installation day? Any addition charge for install the new rims or include in tire installation charge ($80)?

      https://www.c-wheels.ca/en/
The rims will be sent to your house and you will need to get them to Costco to install. If you bought tires from Costco, usually the install cost is already included so you just need to set the install date and show up with the rims.
    • Yes, you need to bring them from home as they get shipped to your house.

No, there shouldn't be any additional charge unless you have a separate set of TPMS sensors you plan to add to the rims.

    • Aren't tire rebates usually $70?

Canadian Tire is actually the best place to get tires. $15 per tire warranty covers absolutely EVERYTHING. Have a look. Hands down the best warranty on the market, by a landslide. My wife and her family swear by it and have used the warranty for 2 full sets of new tires at zero cost aside from the initial $15.

I bought my tires from Costco and recently picked up a nail. Their warranty is pro-rated based on remaining tread and because the cost of my tires have gone up, I still had to dish out $350 for a new tire the other day. Also, Costco scheduled me an appointment about a week out because they needed to order the specific tire. They call me 3 days later saying, "Uhhhhh, your tire isn't going to be here on Monday, we are going to have to cancel & re-schedule your appointment. We'll call you when your tire comes in to schedule". I get a call on Monday morning saying my tire had arrived. Yay! they got the tire and cancelled my appointment. This was Ancaster Costco.

My next set of tires will be from Canadian Tire w/ warranty, 100%.

    • Need winters this year should I wait?
Winter will be upon us soon and the deals don't get better unless someone is right about group buys. What group buys?
If these are the tires you want the rebates will likely go away or simply change.

      I would simply buy.
Get your installation date set now because the dates fill up.
Buy Costco over Canadian Tire because of price and service.
You could get bad service anywhere but most people are very happy with Costco service.

Yes, you should have bought earlier but that deal is done unless that black tire thingy one is around.

    • Interesting, seems to be different fromwhats posted on their website. They only mention the $8.99/ tire extra package and that even states that they'll replace it only if it meets their guidelines (typically, they'll immediately replace the Motomaster branded ones).

      tire warranty packages

Edit: price varies by tire price:
Replacement Advantage cost is based on the regular retail price of a tire; $8.99 for tires priced up to $149.99 each, $12.99 for tires priced up to $249.99 each, and $16.99 for tires priced over $250.00 each.

I'm not talking about motomaster tires. The warranty applies to any purchased tire from CT. $15 per tire for full coverage.

    • There's a reason for the "better" warranty for the Cdn Tire motomaster tire, they're sourced from cheaper tier Sailun tires (no point repairing at that price point/product tier).
That said, the Michelins I just got, 2 were product stamped "Made in Canada" and 2 I had to look up the code to discover that they were manufactured out of China (Dot code had '0R' as the plant). If that's the case for more of the Michelin tires, then what's the point of trying to support keeping the jobs on this side of the pond if they don't lower their prices a bit more.
