    • Found this too late for this deal: If you log in Rakuten App and go to Attitude Sports one of the offers is apply a code to membership. It reduces price to $20 and you are supposed to get $20 off on next purchase...which essentially makes it free (there's taxes on the $20 membership). Decided to sign up for this anyway and added various products to cart but I don't get the $20 discount. I do however, automatically get the 5% off. Nothing received in email or in account details so don't know "what's up with that" (SNL ref). Maybe comes after next purchase? Will contact tomorrow...unless one of you figures it out.
(The membership deal through Rakuten App ends August 31)
Good to know for those without the membership. There was a promo a few years ago to have it for 1 CAD (which I got, I think it was popular in RFD).

    • My feet are $%^#ed and I need to be wearing something all the time. Is the recovery slide good for all the time around the house? Would they be ok for wide feet and occasional bouts of edema? Also don't want to be clacking or shuffling around the house...that an issue?

The site shoes unisex, men's and women's. They don't have my size in men's but in unisex they do. Are they not the same as the men's? They look the same.

Ordered the Bondi 8 with 3 day free shipping and got shipping notification. I live in the same city so expect them in a day.
They are really comfortable and can be used for long periods around the house. I found them to give the perfect blend of comfort and support. For wide feet maybe try the sandals instead of slides since they are open design. You can also check out Oofos sandals, I tried on a pair and found them to be wide.

They are fairly quiet and don’t make lots of sound when walking. Good question about the unisex vs men’s, as a guy I just went with the men’s but I’m sure the unisex should work just fine. My buddy’s wife wears his all the time and loves them.

    • Anyone wears Bondi? Is it true to size? I wear size 9.5 Ultraboost or New Balance but after measuring my feet, Hoka guide says I should be wearing 7.5. The nearest store that has Hoka is closed today so I can't go in to try. I would love to order my usual size if it's not for the $9.99 for returns. Have been looking for a pair of Hoka for casual running.
I find Hokas fit true to size. At least for Bondi and Mafate which I have. I take size 9. I also have Ultraboosts in size 9 and I find they all fit appropriately.
Hoka saying to down size by 2 seems odd.

    • As a shoe noob, how does HOKA compare to something like Nike Pegasus or Saucony Endorphin Shift for running, OR the adidas ultraboost for regular walking around?

Some of the color ways look pretty good. Is the Clifton 8 much worse than the Bondi ones?

      Thanks!
Kinesiologist used to work in a running shop with gait analysis etc. Hoka ONE ONE are the best shoe out there, imo. and beat anything else on the market for comfort and stability

It's free with the membership, which seems expensive now at 35 CAD, but may be worth if you want to return stuff or plan to purchase enough to make up for the membership cost/returns.

    • I wish Attitude Sports would carry the Kaha Low.
I am now comparing Anacapa Low, Kaha low and the New Balance Fresh Foam Hierro v6 GTX and the Anacapa Low with 20% seems like a great deal!

    • I'm a noob anybody can recommend a shoe for beginner runners? Maximum comfort lol
On the affordable side without breaking bank, think of these as starter shoes before u move into pricier stuff that start hitting the $100+ range
Reebok Floatride Energy 2 - svpsports got FE2 for $50, and this would be my first choice for starting
Reebok floatride energy 4 - Reebok.ca got the glow blue/yellow colorway for $78 w/ promo code BTS at checkout, this would be my 2nd choice... dammit, I just ordered one cuz i got 1,2,3 and now I wanted a 4 to add to the collection.
Diadora Mythos 5 - winner got them for like $60-$70, and different winners have different sizes/stock
Saucony Kinvara 12 - Winners got them for $70-80
Puma Ultraride - Svpsports got these for $55 (in store usually got the yellow with more sizes)
UA Sonic 3/4 - sportchek pickering outlet got these at $60-80, in store only, no online pickup

There are other random deals here and there, but im only mentioning stuff that could be found without much effort and sizes are usually plenty

    • Am overpronator, bought Arahi a few weeks ago for running, a total game changer for me. Still enjoy walking about in ultraboost, won't ever use them for running again.

    • Are these shoes good (provide cushioning) for heel pain? Pedorthist suggests to use heel gel I'm thinking if hoka provides heel cushioning then why not try these instead of the heel gel.

    • Thanks op! Bought a pair of women recover slides for my wife. We tried them yesterday in store, she swears these are more comfortable than any slides or sandals she had ever owned.

    • I know a lot of the reviews are around bondi 8 but how does it compare to other lines on there for bondi ? There is bondi x , Bondi SR and then all the soles look exactly the same.

    • Thanks OP finally used my alti credits on a pair. Nice to see they have some 14s.

For anyone interested, the hoka.com website has a shoe finder to kind of give you an idea of what may work for your needs. Takes a minute and might help inform your decision a bit.

I actually have both the Bondi and Shift in use right now. They are very similar with high stacks, cushioned ride (especially the Bondi), low drop, and rocker soles.

    • Thanks OP, 5% from altitudes membership =152 + tax for Bondi 8.

Also, if anyone wants Bondi 7. Sporting Life has the same discount (without the 5% of membership) in other colorways.
Completely forgot i had a membership. Thanks OP and to you, picked up a couple.

      Might try a pair.

      Broad/narrow?

    • I would say:

      Ultraboost is a walking/lifestyle shoe
      Bondi is a walking/standing shoe

Pegasus is an all-around running shoe
Endorphin Shift is more running focused shoe
Clifton is a max-cushioned running shoe

I would also look at the Brooks as well which the code can be applied on (Glycerin/Ghost)

Great deal if you also have the 5% lifetime membership which can be stacked as well.
I don’t have direct experience, but dealing with foot pain recently my podiatrist recommended these to me. They are designed with more rocker than typical shoes which, in theory, reduce stress on your feet (I.e. less slapping).

Hoka as a brand makes good quality shoes outside of these reasons, anyhow. Known to last a long time. Style may not be for everyone though - they are not minimalist!
Unfortunately shoes are a personal thing and you’ll have to really go by trial and error approach . I could give you the name of 300 runners but are you willing to spend that on a constructed shoe and I prefer . When you have about 30 pairs you begin to know what works for you and your what doesn’t . Just remember that shoes don’t last and are only as good as who fitted you for them . Happy trails and pavement .
      Thanks guys.

My ultraboost shoes are still in good shape so once I need a replacement I’ll consider these may be in a year or two. But it’s good to know that HOKAs are a top contender.

As for fit etc I agree trial and error is the way. Hopefully these will be ok when I do try them.
