Apple Cuts Prices of Previous iPhones and Raises Prices of iPad Pro

By Simon Hung

After announcing a new generation of products and completing their holiday lineup, Apple has cut the prices of some previous-generation products in the Apple Store, most notably iPhones.

Apple plans to have a total of eight iPhone models available in their lineup this year, including the new iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus. Previous-generation iPhones are now cheaper by as much as $170.00, with the headphone jack-included iPhone 6s seeing the steepest price cut. We’ve listed every iPhone with a lower price below.

In addition, the entry-level Apple Watch Series 1 is now $30.00 cheaper than before after the announcement of Apple Watch Series 3. The price cut affects both colours and we’ve listed the new pricing below.

The news isn’t all good, as Apple has also quietly increased the prices of all iPad Pro models with 256GB or 512GB of storage by up to $50.00. The price hike does not affect 64GB models, but it does mean you’ll be paying even more of a premium for the iPad Pro if you want one with more storage. We’ve listed the affected configurations below.

For many savvy iPhone users, a previous-generation iPhone isn't a bad route if you're looking to upgrade your iPhone but aren't willing to pay upwards of $1500.00 for the latest and greatest iPhone. All iPhones sold by the Apple Store are factory unlocked and compatible with most major carriers in Canada.

As of September 13, stores including Best Buy, Costco, Staples and Walmart have yet to update their pricing for the iPad Pro, so it’s recommended that you buy one from them soon if you were in the market for one or considering gifting one for the holidays.

    • Well Bell sneakily increased the prices of iPhone 7 in the last couple of days so I'm sure they will magically come back down in a "special offer", probably after midnight tonight.

    • If you are into refurbished items and have an address in the US to use, go to US Apple Store and find the refurbished section. They cut the prices there too!
