PSA: The TTC Won't Mail Metropasses This Month
By Kate Musgrove
July 12, 2016In response to the negotiations happening at Canada Post right now, Toronto Transit Commission has issued a statement that they will not be sending out the Metropass Discount Plan (MDP) transit passes for August. The MDP program, which has about 53,000 participants across the GTA, allows people to get a discount on the price of each month's Metropass by signing up for a 12-month pre-authorized payment plan, and typically, the MDP passes are mailed out to consumers before the start of each month. For August, Metropass Discount Plan users are instructed to buy a Metropass at a TTC station or authorized retail outlet. The TTC will not make August's pre-authorized debit charge but instead credit MDP users for the price difference between the discounted Metropass and what one regularly costs. That's $11.75 for each adult Metropass holder and $9.25 for each student or senior pass.
The TTC will issue extra Metropasses to stations, Metropass vending machines and authorized retailers in the hopes of avoiding a Metropass shortage.

View all@lame23, I'm in your boat and I e-mailed the MDP Office TWICE to no avail. This is ********.
Normal month:
They charge you 129.75. You get a metropass.
This month:
They charge you $0
They credit you $11.75
Your options:
1. Pay $141.50 for a metropass. So it is costing you the same a normal month because they have given you $11.75 towards the total cost.
2. Don't get a metropass this month... pocket $11.75 profit.
For most people 2 may not make sense as they probably need the pass... BUT if you are going on vacation or whatever and wouldn't need a a pass for the whole month, you can spend $60 or whatever on tokens to get through the month.
You still need to buy a pass as they are giving you 11$, and not crediting the whole month.
:P
I'm sure it will be talked about again but ... glad I read it here
