NetFlix Canada
Netflix Canada: $7.99 per Month for Unlimited Streaming (1 Month Free Trial)
Netflix Canada is a media streaming service that costs $7.99 a month. The content itself is a mix of movies, TV series, and documentaries. If you're not a huge fan of paying for cable but still want to vegetate with some movies or TV shows sometimes, the $7.99 a month price tag is a good deal for some. It doesn't hurt to try it with the free trial!

Google Extends Free US/Canada Calling through Gmail Until December 31, 2012
December 14 update: Good news! Google has extended their free calling to US and Canadian phone numbers through 2012. This feature is now in its third year and is a great way to save on long-distance bills.
Originally posted January 10, 2011:Here's some good news from Google! In August we reported that Google had rolled out free calling to US and Canadian phone numbers. The only catch was that it would only be available through the end of 2010. Happily, Google announced that they're continuing to offer the service for free through 2011. This is a huge boon for anyone looking to save on long-distance bills or cellphone plans.
If you haven't yet used this feature, when you're within Gmail, click "Call Phone", select the country you wish to call and then enter the phone number. Make sure that you have speakers and a microphone hooked up to your computer. As we said above, you'll be able to call any Canadian or US number for free. You can call other countries for about 2¢ a minute.

MBNA
MBNA Smart Cash Platinum Plus MasterCard: No Annual Fee, 3% Cash Back on Gas/Grocery, 1% On Other
November 26, 2011 Update: With the news in August that TD bought MBNA Canada, we can't be certain how much longer the Smart Cash Platinum Plus MasterCard will be available. To date, it remains one of the best no-fee cashback credit cards on the market, and it's very much worth a look if you don't have one. It could definitely come in handy during the holiday season, too!
Originally posted September 24, 2009: Still looking for the right credit card? MBNA has put an impressive credit card offer online. The MBNA Smart Cash Platinum Plus Mastercard is a no annual fee card with some pretty robust cash back rewards. Here are the details:
- Get 5% cash back on net gas and grocery purchases for the first 6 months (up to spending $600 per month, 1% thereafter)
- Get 3% cash back on net gas and grocery purchases thereafter (up to spending $600 per month, 1% thereafter)
- Get 1% cash back for all other net retail purchases
- 1.99% introductory annual interest rate on balance transfers and cheque cash advances for 10 months
- No annual fee
As a platinum card, it also carries the the normal platinum benefits -- a warranty extension of up to one additional year on most new purchases and free car rental insurance when renting vehicles. In terms of application restrictions, you do need to have a minimum income of total household income of $35,000 or greater. Overall, it's a very strong credit card offer. If you want to see how it stacks up to the competition, use the RedFlagDeals.com's Canadian Credit Card Comparison page or you can compare it against other MBNA Credit Cards here.

Hotwire.com
Hotwire.com: Hotel Deals in Canada and the US Starting at $29 a Night
Hotwire.com is a US-based site offering deals in Canada, the US, and abroad. The very best use of Hotwire that we have found are the discounted hotel rates. You pick your city, select your dates and Hotwire returns its very best deals. You learn the location of the hotel, the number of stars it rates, and the price per night, but you don't find out the name of the hotel until after you book. Normally that might concern us, but when Hotwire is offering a 4-star hotel in the area of our choosing (and they're offering it at a 2-star-price), we'll go ahead and book.
We have really just begun to scratch the surface of the tremendous amount of deals available at Hotwire.com lists hotels in hundreds of cities all over the world. You can search without any obligation to buy, and at these prices, we wonder how you could ever pay full-price for a hotel again. Hotwire.com is a US-based site that bills in US dollars, but offers hotels in Canada and accepts Canadian credit cards and billing addresses.
