Heroes of Newerth, a popular game in the increasingly popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre, is now offering free to play access. Previously, there was no way to play other than plunking down $30. Now, anyone can play and have access to a rotating crop of 15 heroes and the option of purchasing more. As a free user, you still have limited matchmaking options. With more playing time or in game microtransactions, you can move up to a "verified" account for more options.
If you've never played DotA (Defense of the Ancients)) / MOBA style games before (like the original DotA, League of Legends, or Bloodline Champions), free play is a good price to get your feet wet!
