Hotwire.com is a US-based site offering deals in Canada, the US, and abroad. The very best use of Hotwire that we have found are the discounted hotel rates. You pick your city, select your dates and Hotwire returns its very best deals. You learn the location of the hotel, the number of stars it rates, and the price per night, but you don't find out the name of the hotel until after you book. Normally that might concern us, but when Hotwire is offering a 4-star hotel in the area of our choosing (and they're offering it at a 2-star-price), we'll go ahead and book.

We have really just begun to scratch the surface of the tremendous amount of deals available at Hotwire.com lists hotels in hundreds of cities all over the world. You can search without any obligation to buy, and at these prices, we wonder how you could ever pay full-price for a hotel again. Hotwire.com is a US-based site that bills in US dollars, but offers hotels in Canada and accepts Canadian credit cards and billing addresses.

Shopping around for a new MasterCard? Here's one that may appeal to the travel bug in you -- apply for a new WestJet RBC World MasterCard by September 30 and you'll receive 100 WestJet dollars and a $99 round-trip companion flight.

The $99 companion fare is valid when purchased in conjunction with another seat on any WestJet-operated flight in Canada or to the continental US. The $99 price does not include taxes, fees, and surcharges. The 100 WestJet dollars are equal to $100 towards any flight with WestJet, including the $99 companion fare. Cardholders will earn 1.5% back in WestJet dollars on every purchase and 2% back when purchasing WestJet flights or vacations.

Now that we've told you the good news, here's the "less good" news -- this card has an annual interest rate of 19.99% on all purchases and cash advances and an annual fee of $79 for the primary card and $39 for each additional card you may require. There is also the option of the WestJet RBC MasterCard for a lower annual fee of $39 for the primary card and $19 for additional cards. Cardholders who opt for this version will earn 1% back in WestJet dollars on purchases and 1.5% back when purchasing WestJet flights or vacations. With this card you will receive 50 WestJet dollars as your bonus gift and will not be eligible for the $99 companion fare.

Here's a more-than-affordable option for Vancouver travellers going to Seattle, Washington. Starting May 31 BoltBus are expanding their service to include the Vancouver/Seattle route and fares for the first four days are just $1 each way!

MasterCard, as part of their Priceless program, is offering 10-15% off flights to New York and London. You'll need to sign up for the Priceless program to receive your discount code -- but it's free and will gives you access to other special offers and deals, so we don't see a problem. You'll also need to pay with your MasterCard.
