Here's a deal of interest if you're going to be travelling in the US and intend to rent a car: Alamo is currently offering weekend rentals for $10 per day! Here's how it works:
  • reserve an economy to premium size car
  • get the weekend rate as early as 9 AM Thursday
  • keep your car overnight on Saturday
  • 4-day maximum on your rental
  • return your car by Monday or higher daily rates apply
According to the fine print, this offer is valid at participating Airport locations in the US and Canada through 5/31/09 for rentals of economy through premium sized cars and 24-hour advance reservation is required. Cannot be combined with any other discounts, coupons or promotional rates. Availability is limited and blackout dates may apply. Not valid for one way rentals. Be sure to check out the rest of the fine print for other restrictions (including some cities) and conditions.

    • When trying to choose dates for a rental weekend, it gives me an error:

      "The entered Corporate ID, Association ID, or Contract ID is invalid"

      Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Cannot be combined with any other discounts or promotional rates. Availability is limited and blackout dates may apply. Weekend rate available 9:00 AM Thursday; vehicle must be returned by pick up time on Monday or higher daily rates apply. Rental must include a Saturday overnight stay. Taxes, other governmentally-authorized or imposed surcharges, vehicle license recoupment fees, airport and airport facility fees (of up to US $4.50 per day or US $15 per rental), fuel, additional driver fee, one-way rental charge and optional items (such as CDW Waiver Savers® up to $29.99 per day) are extra. Check your insurance policy and/or credit card for rental vehicle coverage. Concession recoupment fees of up to 12% may be added to the rental rate at some on-airport locations. Up to 11.11% may be added to the rental rate if you rent at an off-airport location and exit on our shuttle bus. Other surcharges and recoupment fees may apply. Renter must meet standard age, drive and credit requirements. Rates may be higher for drivers under age 25.

      This is Awesome! I just got a weekend rental for San Diego Airport from May 1-4 for $36 bucks after tax!! You could even choose any size vehicle for the same price, but I ended up choosing a midsize b/c of gas prices!!

      Hope other people can get in on this!

    • Had my first Alamo experience in OCT...was quite pleased...they were the only Rental Company that let me Pickup in Vancouver, and drop off in Seattle, without charging me a whole pile extra to not return to same place as pickup...
      Also, I originally reserved for a "G6 or similar" and was upgraded to a Malibu for free...
      Very positive experience with them!!!

      Try Hotwire for Vegas. I used it a couple of weeks ago, We got our car for around $9 a day. Free parking at all hotel, Valet park, give them a buck or two when you want your car.

    • how did you guys get the $10/day deal? I just tried and I can only get the $10/day IF I choose USA as country of residence. If I choose Canada, it won't give me those prices. Does it matter if I leave it as US?

      It doesn't matter just leave the country as US since you are paying in US Dollars for the rental.

    • I am not sure if this is off topic. But of you are a Costco member - go to Costco.com and click on the links for travel. Then there is a section for Car Rentals.

      Alamo and costco have the best specials. You get the extra additional driver included and you get about 10-15% off the rate that's on the website for Alamo. You can stack this offer by just choosing the coupon code from Costco and keeping the deal for ID Code/Corp Code. In this case though, I could not get the $10/day that was available through Alamo so Costco was the best deal.

      I'm trying to book for San Diego airport for January 16 to 18th, but it's showing up as different prices for different cars.
      The cheapest one is showing up at $19.97 per day for a Economy or Compact.
      What am I doing wrong?

      Feb 13th to Feb 15th(Holiday Monday) Since it's at the airport location will it be open for drop off on this day or will I have to rent till the next day (the 16th Tueday)?

      The airport location is always open on holidays. Actually Monday Feb 16th is the holiday. I just checked and rate is $30.00 + taxes and up to full size is available and total is like $45.00 with taxes for 3 days.
