If you are going to be in the London, Ontario area between January 22nd and February 4th, the Londonlicious Festival will give you a chance to enjoy local dining experience for cheap. During the festival, the following restaurants will be offering three course meals for $20-$25 per person:

- I highly, highly, highly recommend the Auberge de Petit Prince. My wife and I go there when we want a fancy night out. Great french food, fantastic deserts.

  Big fan of tru, been there a couple times and food was fantastic. The seafood pasta was a personal favorite of mine. Loaded with seafood and not too much sauce to overpower it.
  
  Black Trumpet is good but too expensive for what you get in my opinion but for this deal (20-25) it would be worth checking out.
  
  Aroma is good, went there for a team building for work (we broke into smaller groups and actually prepared the food, it was fun) and the food was great. Very neat atmosphere inside there.

  the last friday of every month they have an all you can eat buffet that includes steamed lobster, crab legs, oysters, shrimp..etc for $50. I love it.

  I have. It's a good place to eat and the food is good. I've been for Easter buffet. It was nice. I'd compare it to the Hilton or Four Seasons buffet in town. I've been there for a sit down dinner too and the atmosphere is more classic as opposed to modern. The food was good but not worth the drive considering all of the other options in town. I'd rather go to Michael's, Waldo's, or the Black Trumpet.

  If I had to pick one from that list, I'd pick Waldos. My GF would pick La Casa.
  
  In the summer, we did this deal at Waldo's and basically it worked out that the dessert was free. So if you are one to order Appetizer/Entree/Dessert, it's a good deal. We also did this deal at Under the Volcano which isn't on this list and it was horrible.
  
  If you like pizza and aren't looking for fine dining, P-za Pie does make some nice pizza and is worth a try. My taste leans more towards Pasta/Chicken-type meals. If you are a big meat/seafood eater (Eastern European), then you'll love the Marienbad. I hated the menu.
  
  I'm thinking of trying Cello unless anyone has been there and would recommend against it.

  Yep...and the lobsters are steamed fresh unlike the mandarin ones. The best thing I've ever heard is "Sir, how many lobsters would you like"...yum...I think I had 6 lobsters the last time I went.

  FWIW Cello hasn't stopped running "Cellolicious" since the summer festival. Their prix fixe menu is always on their site and in my opinion it looks pretty dull. Pretty obvious scrimping on the food cost to make it work.
  
  That being said I HAVEN'T been there, it looks nicely decorated, and I have to commend them on decently innovating advertising and promotions for London. Considerably better ideas than the usual $10 off $35 coupons from Under the Volcano and Curry's.

  I usually book a couple of weeks in advance, it is pretty popular and they fill up quite quickly. They have small bay scallops in their seafood paella which is very tasty too...I'm just usually too full of lobster and prime rib to have much of it !

  Almost certainly. They simply must do whatever they can to keep food cost down. However they mostly all are still offering great value during -licious seasons.
  
  Although on the other hand I found Blue Ginger in particular to be terrible value during this past summer's festival... insultingly small portions of dull, room temperature, uninspired menu choices.
  
  And I've read many staff hate the festivals -- there are stories of a chef in Toronto putting his fist through the kitchen wall when the owner told him they were participating. And (at the risk of opening a can of worms) I bet there's a lot of cheapskate tipping.

- The couple of times I've eaten there, NOT on special promotion, the portions have been shockingly small. . Not a function of a -licious special but just the way the restaurant is. . Not impressed by the portion or the food itself. . I'd stay clear.

  Blue ginger is awful. Totally lackluster, the service is poor and the food is uninspired at best. Who the hell still has fried sushi on their menu?
  
  Waldo is a great restaurant, great service and food everytime I go. I once forgot my cell phone there and the since we told the waiter earlier that we were going to a bar nearby earlier, he came over and found me and returned my phone. Talk about going above and beyond.

  Going out again this coming weekend (thanks to a radio contest it is free).
  Any other recommendations (or where to avoid)?
  
  Just to add - the menu @ Waldos was as follows (if I recall correctly):
  Appetizer
  ceasar salad or baked brie in phyllo (both are excellent - brie is small but delicious) or soup of the day
  Entree
  butternut squash raviolli
  chicken breast
  pasta bar (pick everything from a card and have it made to order - not like a 'salad bar' where you go up and just keep picking things)
  mushroom baked pork tenderloin medallions - this is excellent - the pork was tender and the fresh green beans were cooked perfectly.
  Dessert
  Creame caramel
  different ice creams
  different sorberts
  
  The price was $25 per person
  
  Also, some of the restaurants are starting to add the Londonlicious menu to their own websites (Barney's, Ciao, Auberge, Tru).
