  They are surprisingly roomy. I am 6'3" and over 200 lbs ( and I have no problem with space. I bought my 2005 used for $11,000 a year ago and it's been great. Love the fact that I can drive 500 km return to my cottage and back for $20 in fuel.
  
  Funny that I can buy a brand new one now for only a couple of thousand more than what I paid used! The new models have come down in price since they were introduced into the US in 2008.

  I drive it on the 401 all the time. No problem. Try driving a tall mini-van past a big transport and see how stable you feel....

  What people have been saying in this thread is true and easily confirmed by anyone who's actually sat in, or even looked closely at a Smart car. They're perfectly reasonable transport for someone not needing more than a 2-seater and wanting decent fuel economy (although nowhere near as good as they SHOULD be, especially in the gas version). And they're huge inside (until you turn around).
  
  I don't have one, not planning on it either, but this finally brings the price down near where it should be.

  How much better is this than say a Toyota or Honda or a Jetta Diesel?
  Would the fuel savings be significant to sacrifice the back seats and any decent sized cargo space?
