Did you know 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of Parks Canada? To commemorate the occasion, the Royal Canadian Mint has released a series of Legendary Nature coins. If you've been keeping an eye on your money, you may have noticed the Wood Bison quarter, which went into circulation in January. This month, the Orca quarter has been put into circulation, and the Peregrine Falcon is featured on next month's quarter. There is also a Park Canada loonie and Boreal Forest toonie.

On their Facebook page, the Royal Canadian Mint is giving out free collector cards to hold the coins. To get yours, just click on the "Get your collector card" tab on the page and enter your mailing information. Your card should arrive shortly afterwards.

There's a limit of one collector card per household, and it should be noted that the coins are not included (you'll have to look around in your change for those!).

Because we all love free things, Black's is giving away free 6x8 portraits until Valentine's Day! All you have to do is walk into any Black's location and they'll shoot and print a Valentine's Day themed portrait with a maximum of two people on the spot -- no strings attached. This would be a great time to bring the kids in and have a professionally taken shot at no cost.

There's a limit of one photo per customer and maximum of two people per portrait.

The freebie ends on February 14.

If you're in the market for an affordable but capable 15.6" laptop and don't mind buying refurbished, Future Shop has a decent deal on a notebook you might want to take a look at. Right now, they have a refurbished Lenovo 15.6" notebook with Intel Core i5, 640GB HD, 6GB RAM and Windows 7 for $469.99. Although not as hot as the previous price of $430, it's still a decent price for a pretty good performer.

With a second generation i5 processor, sizeable hard drive and good amount of memory, this laptop should be able to handle most basic tasks with ease. Throw in the capacity for photo and video editing as well and you have a laptop that performs well given the price. HDMI out, 4 USB 2.0 ports and a fingerprint reader are also nice to have. Its average battery life (up to 4 hours) and build (5.3 lbs) aren't deterring factors but it might be for those fixated on something a little more portable.

The deal is available online only but Future Shop does offer free shipping over $25.

The one deal that caught our eye was the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 package. Normally $229.99, this is a great price for a highly rated digital camera and you get some added accessories as well. We've seen the camera hit this price point before but not with the included case and 4GB SD card. It's currently sold out online but that doesn't mean you won't be able to find one in stores.

If you plan on picking up a PlayStation Vita, you might want to pre-order at Future Shop because, for a limited time, they're throwing in a 4GB memory card for free. It's not a free game, it's not a price drop, but it's a decent bonus considering any Vita owner is going to need to pick one up at some point to store music, videos, downloadable games and game saves.

If you're got an ageing computer at home needs to be replaced, Canada Computers has a pretty decent deal on a Intel Core i7 laptop that you might want to take a look at. A computer with these specs should be able to handle anything most users will throw at it. Picture and video editing, word processing, web surfing and medium to heavy multi-tasking won't be a problem although those looking for a gaming notebook might need to look elsewhere. Even without a discreet graphics card, it's still a good price for a laptop with second generation Intel Core i7 processor and Blu-Ray combo drive.

While it's listed as a laptop, we wouldn't necessarily enjoy carrying it around. The 17.3" screen and 7 pound frame might make it difficult to commute with, but we would definitely look into it as a desktop replacement for the home.
