There's some big news in mobile market today. Wind Mobile has officially launched and their plans are stirring up a lot of buzz. Right now their home zones are Calgary and Toronto with expansion plans for Vancouver, Edmonton, and Ottawa in 2010. If you're in a "home zone", their plans look have a lot going for them by the looks of it:

$15 per month "Chat" Plan
  • Unlimited incoming text
  • Call Control (Caller ID, missed-call alerts, call forward, call conferencing, call waiting, call hold)
  • Unlimited WIND to WIND calling when in any WIND HOME Zone
  • Unlimited incoming WIND calls when in any WIND HOME Zone
  • 100 province-wide minutes when in any WIND HOME Zone
  • 50 Canada/U.S. outgoing text
$35 per month "Always Talk" Plan
  • Unlimited incoming text
  • Call Control (caller ID, missed call alerts, call forward, call conferencing, call waiting, call hold)
  • Unlimited WIND to WIND calling when in any WIND HOME Zone
  • Unlimited incoming calls
  • Unlimited province-wide calling when in any WIND HOME Zone
  • 50 Canada/US outgoing text from any WIND HOME Zone
$45 per month "Always Shout" Plan
  • Unlimited incoming texts
  • Call Control (caller ID, missed call alerts, call forward, call conferencing, call waiting, call hold)
  • Unlimited WIND to WIND calling when in any WIND HOME Zone

  • Unlimited Canada-wide calling when in any WIND HOME Zone

The first month is also free. There are, of course, plenty of add-on options available. Right now, you need to purchase a Wind Mobile phone to get access. They offer 4 models, the Blackberry Bold 9700 for $450, the HTC Maple for $300, the Samsung Gravity 2 for $150, and the Huawei U7519 for $130.

      These are official plans..the last weeks leaked ones were rumours/unofficial , although they proved to be the same as the official ones .

      Always better to get it directly from the source/website aka horse's mouth with an official link to back it up

      tbh i guess it will depend on what you want to spend for the features and compare that to the robellus alternative...may or may not come out ahead

    • The plans are AWESOME , just wish they also had a plan in the $ 20 - $ 25 range for mid term users .

      $ 15 is low end and $ 35 / $ 45 could be slightly high end for some people , too bad there is nothing between $ 15 to $ 35...anyways much better than the crappy plans from the BIG 3

      What does "Unlimited incoming WIND calls when in any WIND HOME Zone" mean? Does it mean unlimited incoming calls? Or does the person calling need you to be a WIND subscriber as well?

      What are the boundaries of their Home Zone for Toronto? (Is Missisauga/Markham) included? or is it strictly Toronto?

      Probably only when you are in a city with Wind towers. I think they have an agreement to roam on other companies towers, which wouldn't be included in the unlimited...

      And most retentions plans are better than this...

    • Actually not all that impressed with these plans. To get what I currently have on Telus (granted I have some freebies added on), I'd need to get their $35 voice plan plus $35 BB data plan plus $5 voice mail. That's $75 (+taxes) for which I'm currently paying $63 (+taxes) with Telus.

      I just need a good phone with Tether and VOIP capability.

      How about to start with just the basically $15 chat plan, and upgrade myself to the rumored Google phone later. It should be available pretty soon on T-Mobile, which use the same band as Wind.
