    • just saw in the wal-mart flyer yesterday that they had the 160gb ps3 + kz2 + little big world + drakes uncharted + terminator sarah connor chronicles blu ray disc for $499.

      thought that this was a better deal than the fs one.

      Uncharted doesn't really factor into the price since it already comes with the 160GB bundle.

      Personally i would take the WM one but this is also a fantastic deal. Man i dont know if I can hold out for the slim (assuming its even real lol) to get my second ps3 or what lol.

      Frankly we keep hearing rumors of a price drop because there's generally a consensus that the PS3 is not competing as well as it should purely because of the price. There's an assumption though that Sony is still trying to be competitive. If I were already a PS3 owner, I would be pretty concerned if Sony takes no action like that this year. It could be an indication that they're cutting their losses for this console generation, and content to just let the PS3 languish in third while they mitigate the damage. That would be bad news for current owners.

      It wouldnt be a sign of anything of the sort. It would be a sign that they are trying to make money, nothing else as they have stated.

      The quality of the software on the PS3 is how you can tell that they are supporting the machine and that is leaps and bounds better than the competition recently.

      I'm going to have to disagree with you. Making money is always the end goal, but companies are not omniscient. A price drop is a relatively risky action since it hurts their margins but has a potential high payoff. Whereas no price drop is 'safer' for the short term, but they're not as competitive at the current price point as the markets have shown. One is a more aggressive stance on competing in that market, so their decision could indicate their overall strategy. As for software quality... remember that both Activision and Tecmo Koei have made public statements about wanting a lower price. I can only imagine that there is plenty more comments made behind closed doors. That means the pricing issue is affecting their relationships with publishers. It's a good product, and I would love to have one, but I wouldn't waste my time defending Sony's decisions. Going from overwhelming market leader to third place is a poor result no matter how anyone rationalizes it.

      PS3 sales have been dropping, which is a problem.

      However, from Launch to now (in weeks), the PS3 has sold more systems then the Xbox 360 did in the same time frame (by roughly a 2.5 Million margin), so I'm not worried about the console just yet. (http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?con...=All&weeks=156)

      They'll have to do something sooner then later though to boost sales, and the recent decline in system sales doesn't bode well (I attribute this to the economy). If a pricecut comes soon, I have no doubt that the PS3 will sell more, especially when Uncharted 2, GOW 3, and GT5 come out.

      Edit: Hot deal though. Not as nice as picking up an 80 GB with KZ2 and VC for $400, but still nice.

      So I picked up bundle w/ MGS4 limited ed for $430, and took rest as credit

      So you potentially can get the 160GB bundle for 389.99? That's actually much better since not everyone likes KZ2.

      I might actually have to bite the bullet if they let me do that. I've heard good things about KZ2 but I'm not really interested in paying full price for another FPS even if it is awesome.... I'll take my store credit and use it on some magic Monster HDMI cable instead
