Last week, Dell was offering an affordable Vostro 200 Desktop PC in a few configurations, including with a Dual Core Pentium CPU for $349 and with a Core 2 Duo E4600 processor for $369. This week, the offer is back, but the price has been lowered by $10! The base configuration is $339, but we prefer adding the Core 2 Duo E4600 Processor upgrade for $20 and ending up with the following system for $359:

- I think the E8300 upgrade for $80.00 is a good choice. If you need MS Office Home & Student 2007, you can PM at Office Depot for $92.00.

- I'm not sure if this applies. We have several new Vostro 400s in our office that had a black screen/lockup problem after the Windows loading screen. I looked at the forums and a few people are having the same issue.
  
  Might want to look at that before you dive any further into the purchase. This problem pissed off some of the company folks quite a bit.

  Had that happening only on the first day, for a Vostro 400 I bought for work. Dell support said to unplug power cable, and wait 2 minutes. Powered up, and no problem since. They had no idea why it was happening. Hasn't recurred since (2 months now). Could you put a link here to the forum thread you mentioned?

  The base price is $10 cheaper indeed except that other offer has a slower based CPU and a more expensive CPU upgrade:

  If they had a 500 Gig drive in it for that price, I would jump on it. At the moment, trying to juggle around getting another HDD and doing a clean install with drivers. Can be done but not a preference.
