    • Dell.ca is selling the SD1100IS in Mocha for $149.99

      That's the lowest price I've seen so far. I think last week the Blue colour version was being sold for $159.99. And as always free shipping!

      I ordered one just now and received the order confirmation.
      Happy shopping RFD.
      BTW its an online deal only coz the stores dont carry the Mocha-
      so I was told by the store mgr @ Steeles/ Kennedy.

    • I own it and it's definitely worth that price. The picture quality is more or less equivalent to the more expensive Canon ultracompact cameras, which are considered to be among the best around.

      The downsides are that the auto white balance isn't very accurate, so indoor shots often end up looking too yellowish, and the low-light performance is not great – but that's normal for ultracompact cameras. Otherwise, it's a great camera.

    • I just upgraded to this camera from a 4 yr old SD100. The 1100's Optical IS, Digic III, face detection, and auto ISO stuff is awesome upgrades from my old elph. This is an awesome camera. I was considering the SD 790IS because I liked the style, but for the price difference I chose the 1100 and couldn't be happier. After playing with both in the store, loosing the viewfinder for .5 inches of screen (with the same resolution!) wasn't worth the price, also the 790 felt a lot heavier and thicker.

    • If you are trying to do a PM with Staples, I suggest you do it over the phone now. I just did, they didn't charge me the 15 dollar delivery fee (which they normally tell me they have to because their delivery is next day and Dell is not next day), and I applied my 20 dollar coupon. Total worked out to 147.93 all in ( I had to add a filler of post it notes to bring my total up to 150 before I could apply the 20 dollar coupont). Whoo hoo!! excellent price. Too bad the camera is not for me. Dang, now I want one!

    • I don't know. I was thanking my lucky stars the guy I got really didn't seem to know what he was doing. He took forever to do the order and I just kept joking around with him so he would just 'overlook' a few things. He did mention something about having to check to see what Dell's shipping charges were and since they have none, he didn't charge anything. I know I got lucky, I was fully expecting him to charge me the 15 bucks delivery charge. Complete luck of the draw.

      I find that Canon cameras provide better quality photos. I've compared my Canon Powershot with my cousin's Sony Cybershot.

      I've also read that Canon's lenses are one of the best. Don't know much about Carl Zeiss (for the Sony), but i've always heard that the Canon's were better.

      Correct if i'm wrong!

      I just searched the message boards at dpreview.com (best place for digital camera info) and the first 5 messages that came up were about the Sony's poor picture quality.

      The Canon has excellent picture quality. Canons are generally very good. Sonys are hit or miss.
