Hot on the heels of the launch of new MacBook revisions, Apple Canada has dropped the price of refurbished MacBooks in the Apple Refurb Store. Here are some of the notable price drops:

Refurbished 15.4" MacBook Pro w/ 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB RAM, 200GB hard drive, Nvidia 8600M GT now $1449.00, down from $1799.00
Refurbished 13.3" Macbook w/ 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo Processor, 1GB RAM, 120GB hard drive, DVD-ROM/CD-RW, Built-in iSight Camera now $899.00, down from $949.00
Refurbished 13.3" Macbook Air w/ 1.6GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB RAM, 80GB hard drive now $1439.00, down from $1599.00

- BTW, the regular glossy screens aren't bad at all -- I actually prefer them. The new Macbook's look so awful because they use glass which causes the rediculous reflections. Get your refurbs now.. they are the sexiest Mac's alive, for a good price!

  I got fooled earlier by Jobs statement. I looked at it carefully, that's the pricing of the existing Macbook. Newer macbook (aluminum ones) will drop intel graphics chip, comes with 2gb of ram

  The MacBook Pro (From the 2.2/2.4 Models onward) have LED Screen. (the 2.16/2.33 Models do not). No MacBooks have had LED backlighting until yesterday's announcement of the Aluminum ones.

  They're the exact same model. You got it. Apple didn't change the base-model white MacBook at all, just dropped the price. That refurb was $949 yesterday - so it's dropped in price by $50.

  Yeah, last generation of MBP has LED backlight, penryn CPU (only minor speed bump for new model), multi-gesture pad (I bet 4 finger swipe will be enabled later with an OS patch), so buy a 1500 refurb!

  RAM replacement on MacBooks and MacBook Pros is a 1 minute task.

- i think the new MacBook white and the old macBook have a slightly different graphics card. Other than that, pretty much the same. Also, everything comes with a superdrive now, no more combo drives.

- also, the new macbooks do NOT have a firewire port. for some weird reason, apple decided to take that out. so if you need FW, you need the older macbook.
  Also, the new Macbooks have smaller caches (3mb vs 4mb) and the processor speed dropped for the middle model (I have the 2.16 GHz model, dropped to 2.0).

- I was viewing the refurb prices on Monday and the lowest price I saw on a macbook pro was $1599.
  
  It's funny that the MBP with the ATI X1600 and 80gb LESS disk space (first gen MBP with C2D) is more expensive than the nVidia based model. Weird! So yeah the $1449 is a good deal by about $150 compared to earlier this week.

  Both refurb has intel graphics (crap for video). It is fine to get the 15 inch, however I highly recommend getting a separate LCD/kb/mouse for home use. You get a better viewing experience.

- I am looking to buy a new MacBook too. I think I would prefer the newer MacBooks because of better graphics, smaller and lighter form factor, and LED backlighting. Not to mention that the MacBook now looks like the MBP.

- The base MBP was $1799 refurbed before yesterday. It is now $1449. This is a tremendous deal for a fantastic laptop.
  
  I hope they knock $350 off the refurb price when the new 17's come out.

  The 'weird' reason is that that macbooks were cannibalizing macbook pro sales. They needed to give people more reasons to spring for the pro model.
  
  Old macbook plus an extra monitor has been a great, affordable setup for me for the last 2 years (surprisingly little speed improvements offered in the meantime).
