..Wow. So you're trying to imply that all people who use Iams/Eukanuba are smokers looking to save a few $$.. That's quite a stretch, and you've pretty much lost credibility for your post.
But if you guys want, keep feeding your pets crap and spend those $3-4 dollars you saved on your cigarettes.

Its crap as well. Its no better than the following:
Eukanuba
IAMS
Pedigree
Purina
Hill's Science Diet
FYI: Eukanuba & IAMS are one and the same company now.
FAQ: Did you know that most of those companies (& others not mentioned) will sponsor courses/provide incentives, scholarships, training materials etc., to students attending Veterinary College?
Hill's is famous for supporting the future Vets of the world by offering those things, and for providing "scientific research data" showing the ingredients which are supposed to be beneficial to pets.
I hope everyone considers doing research now, and questions exactly where pet food ingredients originate from -- don't be surprised if the "meat meal/protein" used in foods are from either one of the 4-D's:
- DEAD
- DISEASED
- DYING
- DISABLED
And yes, there can be actual canine/feline by-products added in the food that you feed your beloved pets.
Remember that foods offered from the vet aren't any better than those readily available from other mainstream junky brands?
Even some of the presciption vet foods are now on recall.
Be weary and be diligent, and ask lots of questions.
How about recommending some brands then? For cats and dogs...If anyone is serious about feeding better quality pet foods to their furbabies, consider the following (my own personal choice due to research and actual usage):
My dog eat's Chef Boyardee everynight. She insists on it as she doesn't eat anything else (other than icecream). However, she vomits and has the runs all the time.LOL ... Don't ever go with the no name stuff, look only for a product who has a name with the word Chef in it. A chef would never hurt anyone.
Does Chef Boyardee have glutton or corn meal in it? Could that be the cause of her illness?

My dog got addicted to Maple Ice cream, now I can't turn my back without him gnawing on every maple tree in sight. He's like a regular beaver now. Just the other day he dragged home a 50 footer. At least there is no wheat in it.

I was so worried (first dog, runs so bad that she'd poo blood at the end (later I found out that this is normal for a dog with the runs) that I went to the vet and rang up a large bill. Granted, it was my own ignorance.
- SOLID GOLD -- 30+years in biz, considered the originator of the all natural holistic food maker
- MERRICK'S -- largest mainstream good natural holistic quality brand
Neither of those 2 brands use any of the 4-D meats, nor do they use Menadione -- which is also known as Synthetic Vitamin K (banned for human consumption due to proven data showing its a cancer causing agent!)
Unfortunately I've never trusted the Canadian brands simply because there is no pet food regulation for Canadian makers! Thats why we now have the Menu Foods Recall.
The USA is bit better since they do have some form of regulations, but if you can get your hands on any from Europe & Australia, they are considered the best by far.

That being said, I tried to ween my dog on the food very slowly and carefully (being a first-time and cautious dog owner) and she still got extremely sick.
My dog's tried a bunch of other foods (slow weening), and she hasn't been able to hold anything in. The only thing she can eat and hold down is Eukeneba Lamb and Rice.
Anyways, I might be feeding my dog "crap" as the others in the forum suggest, but I'd rather have my dog be comfortable, non-gaseous, and not pooing blood for the duration of her life.
And no, I don't smoke.
