The title of the thread says it all,
Are you going to be working part-time during the fall semester (sept) while studying in College/University? I just want to see how many students actually work part-time + study full-time at college/university during the school year and can still handle the workload. I'm planning to quit my part-time job this September (2 years of part-work so far). But if i quit, it might be hard for me to get a part-time job after in april when the semester is over.... Any suggestions is welcome. thanks |

I'm not workin during the fall, but ill look for a job in april. In Vancouver all you have to do is go to any construction site and they'll give you a job on the site so i can work full time instead of part time the whole year.

quite suprised about the results. More ppl tend to have a part-time job in fall semester while in school.
How can you guys handle it? Don't you guys have to read, study, do some textbook work, etc? I've been working through semester 1-->4 so far. but, procrastinating throughout these years while i work p/t on saturday/sunday... Mon-Fri...I leave the house around 7pm and get home around 5pm. Get so tired and sleepy...eat dinner, watch some tv, and the day goes by so fast...dont even have time to read more than 20 pages a night. lol |

I work 25hours / week and have a full time course load. My average is over 80% @ York.

chanyeehon: That happened to me a few times. I work only sat/sun. But, mon-fri...its school! and there's hardly any time to read/study after i get home each day...
. WorldIRC: that's really tough, 25 hours a week + full time study at York!! You probably procrastinate alot.n |

I work during the school year at a City of London owned hockey arena. Its actually quite a fun job that pays the bills! I usually work midnights, but its not even that bad! I was able to maintain an 80+ average to get into Ivey while working part time with a full course load.

I will have a part time job and I'll see how it goes. The hours are really good, it's only sat and sun around 10-12 hrs per week. Hopefully it won't interfere with schoolwork.

I've had a part-time job for the first two years I was at school. Personally I didn't do it for the money (although that's a nice benefit), but rather because makes me stick to a more rigid schedule and prevents me from wasting time....nothing like having a job during school to help you develop some time-management skills
I found that working about 13-15 hours a week is ideal...that's not too much to interfere with classes/marks. The best approach is to find something ON campus since they're very flexible with hours, plus it's close (so no worries about actually getting to work after class or something). |

I was working 35hrs last semester and was in school full time. Lets just say my grades reflected that...
This semester I will be working the same amount of hours (if not slightly more) but atleast my main job will be on campus as an IT Help desk dude so I'm hoping to use some of the down time for studying. But I will admit I've never cared about grades and I really don't still. No one cares if you're a 70%avg or 79% avg when you finish school. If you have a 80% well flaunt it ofcoarse! I have to now that I want to switch into an honours program so I need get that min. avg. which I'm so close to, just need to study a bit more. Now about that social life... |

My experience with part time work mixed with full time school proved to be rather negative in general. The extra money was nice, but finding myself using said money up to retake a course was not.
