What kind of logic is that for the CSA and the Argos?
Who the hell wants to go all the way up to Downsview to watch a game and then drive all the way back downtown? This is as stupid as the Corel Center in Ottawa. It's too bad the people at Trinity had to screw up the Stadium deal, but still... the Ex would have been a better place than all the way up in the boonies. |

i thought the same thing...why move the team away from the core of the city...the only advantage is that the argos may be targeting the york u and 905 region for fans...
i could see a lot of york students etc going to a friday night football game... and the bigger picture is that it will give the york region a legititmat sports venue (other than rexall tennis facility) and it could domino effect into better transit options (maybe the subway extention or dedicated bus link), and business's setting up shop there, ...there is still some valuable real estate out there... we'll see, but i agree, the EX would have been one of the best venue's for a 25000 seat stadium ...

UT governing council never liked the idea of a commercial stadium on school grounds. the main supporter at UT was ex president Brigenau , but rest of the school is firmly against it. Mainly trinity college and faculty of music and businesses along Bloor st. and then there's the problem of cramming 25,000 ppl on game nites on a very busy school campus, in addition to crowds and potential problems, parking is gonna be hard and it'll interfere with the academics that goes on. I find it bad practice to have a commercial facility, especially one like a pro sport venue on school grounds. but i guess york is a sham school anyways... Universities build libraries, research facilities, etc... york builds a mall
and now home to a CFL stadium. Next year there's gonna be a strip joint probably

York is a good choice for the Land and parking. Like it or not most fans of sports franchises drive to watch a game. The Ex is too far and it is just a very secluded area (rape alley). Look no further than all the white elephant buildings there that are hardly being used for anything. Including the arena (I think its also called the Rexall Arena), what is it being used for?
UofT would have added to an already major traffic congestion and the area is seriously defficent in parking for anymore venues. Also the Stadium will be used by the university's football team, now who can say UofT will still have a team in 2 years. This program has been in serious decline and every year you get news the University is thinking about cutting the program. And for those wondering about entertainment at York. Hey there are plenty of strip clubs up in that area. Help a financially strapped student out and get a lap dance from her.

York + Argos football = death for the Toronto franchise. A lot of people don't even like commuting there for school, they're not going there to pay money for a somewhat known football product. |
