If you are actually dedicated to learning french, in terms of cost and time, nothing beats buying a textbook (not your chapters variety Learn French in 30 Days book), and spending 1 hour a night with it (less or more, it's up to how fast you want to learn). People are fooled into thinking you actually have to go to school to learn languages, it's not true, it just forces you to do some work. If you want to do the work, a class isnt necessary. I learned intermediate German and the last bit of beginner French (level 2 or so in comparison to what you're talking about) by myself.
As for the correct books... for French, the most popular ones are Motif's pack and Themes Pack.... both are good, i suggest Motif more tho. They each run between 100-150 for the complete pack, but you can use Amazon.ca to find used from retail stores (that are guaranteed then and free shipping) for about 50-70 bucks. |
