Default What's your "style"? Post pics and describe!

Show us what you wear from your day to day life!

Are you sporty, rockin basketball shorts + shoes and NBA jersey?
Preppy with Khakis, a Polo, and a sweater draped over your shoulder?
Grunge/Rock, with baggy jeans, plaid shirt and a kurt cobain t-shirt?

Here's me (showin' off the selvedge redlines):

Pictured:
- Levi's Capital E Selvedge 501
- Banana Republic Fitted Tee
- American Apparel unlined California Hoodie
- Adidas Rod Lavers

"Simply Casual" is my style. All the basics, t-shirt (both graphic and plain), jeans, sneakers. I'm picky, however. I demand everything to be well fitting, nicely put together, with minimal branding. Nothing loud or gaudy.

Pretty much jeans 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

Other shoes in my daily rotation:
- Converse Hi-Top Chuck Taylors (Black w/ Red stitching/lining)
- Adidas Samba
- Lacoste sneakers (only when I really feel like flashing a brand)

Other Jeans in my daily rotation:
- Diesel Zathans
- Gap 1969 straight fit
- Levi's Rigid Premium Skinner (out of commission, shrank to testicle-owning proportions)

This is me dressed up for a night on the town:

Pictured:
- Gap athletic fit Tee
- Esprit slim-fit shirt
- Gap blazer
- Levi's Rigid Premium Skinners

Not Pictured:
- Converse Hi-Top Chuck Taylors (Black w/ Red stitching/lining)

Your turn.

I only cuff these jeans to show the selvedge, I don't cuff 'em on my other jeans, they're hemmed.

Salvage or selvage? Are you still growing?

Clue me in please. I like your night out of town setup... very modest but quite full of flair at the same time.

My day to day wardrobe consists of Walmart Fruit of the Loom t shirts, Gap hoodie and jeans. I'm usually buying my unmentionables at Walmart because they're comfort level are acceptable and I don't have to worry about breaking the bank for that. The rest is basically a one stop shop at Gap.

Taken from StyleForum's Denim Terminology Guide:

Quote:
Selvage (Selvedge) Denim

Selvage and selvedge mean exactly the same thing - different companies spell it differently and there apparently is no "right" way to spell it. It comes from the phrase "self-edge" which refers to the edge being finished by the loom instead of sewn together after weaving. [thanks Geowu]. Selvage is the term commonly used to refer to denim that has been produced on a shuttle loom. Since the amount of fabric produced from a shuttle loom is significantly narrower than a projectile (wide) loom, the cotton consumption is higher and the time required is greater. In selvage jeans, you will see the actual edge of the fabric where the weaving stops and is finished by the loom, as opposed to denim woven on a projectile loom, where the fabric has been cut off at the ends. The "redline" selvage is Levi's signature and was used in all their jeans up to 1982, before Cone Mills nixed them for the more modern projectile looms, which are faster and much more efficient.
Close-up of the Selvedge Seam:

Basically it means that it uses more fabric = higher quality denim.

I'm 20, so I don't think I'll be doing much more growing (I'm 5' 8", about average for a chinese guy).

Yeah, thats exactly the kind of look I like to go for. Something that stands out and looks nice without any loud flashy trendy brands.

Its all about proper fit, and then mixing and matching colors and styles for that added 'flair' (although it sounds kind of gay, ). Like in my pic, well fitting blazer and jeans, for contrasting colors there's the Bright Red tee + Clean White shirt + Dark Charcoal blazer, then for contrasting styles there's the Shirt/Blazer + Jeans + Converse Chucks.

Thanks, but this thread is not all about me! I want you all to post your styles.

And honestly, my outfit did not break the bank, my T-shirt cost $8, and my jeans were $30 (Levi's Outlet Mall).

You can go to GAP and Old Navy and put together a similar combo for undder $100! A $30 pair of jeans from ON, $15 t-shirt and $40 hoodie from GAP.

Just remember, FIT is key.

Also, getting a job at GAP doesn't hurt either, coz you can get discounts at all Gap Inc. stores (Old Navy, GAP, Banana Republic)

Hey we have the same color with stripe blazer (I got it from GAP). I'm having a hard time thinking of what to wear underneath.

I don't really like GAP or Old navy. They are kind of too plain for me (too white) and they're fitted for (fat) americans. H&M is my favourite store currently but slowly adjusting to club monaco because they feel tailored to my body (i'm not rich or anything but I do plan to buy shirts from there because they are an investment). The most important part about buying clothes is make sure they fit you well. If you find a brand that has cuts that fit you perfectly, no matter what you wear, you won't be sloppy and look cheap.

Currently, it's black+white stripe T from H&M, solid black hoody from american apparel, low rise+straight leg dark wash jeans from American eagle, white high top converse chucks.

This will be my fall style except change the black jeans to a dark blue, the tie to knit tie (because it looks more street than formal), sleeves folded up, can be worn with high top white converse or an army boot i think. and change belt to

Haha, i bet we have the same blazer.

Yes, GAP in itself is quite plain, but because of it, quite good for mixing with other styles because it doesn't overwhelm.

I'm skinny, and I find esprit shirts fit me very well. CM is a tad big.

I wish we had an H&M on the west coast, I hear they have some decent denim. Right now I'm looking for a slimmer-fitting straight leg dark jean.

The one you mention from AE I think i've tried on. Did it feel like, kind of stiff when you first got them?

That look from CM is pretty chill. I haven't had the balls to pull of a tie in a casual setting yet. Dunno where to find slim ties suitable for that look (any suggestions?)

yah CM gives me more room to turn and stuff. H&M is a bit tight for me. I wonder how those europeans get so skinny lol! I'm chinese, I'm supposed to be more skinny than europeans!

I don't have much experience with jeans. They feel okay to me. If they're comfortable to you, u should get it. Jeans are always stiff when u first wear it from wash or from store(?). just stretch it with ur legs and couch and stuff.... it should be okay.

I found a tie from le chateau that's knit to keep it non-formal yet have the look of it. Ties are always neat.. I don't have balls to pull off one either but I do wear them at work sometimes (being receptionist). and i'm also 20 (starting 3rd yr uni).

I have a slim rectangular build too. I find CM has a great fit. I don't find it loose at all. Maybe try a smaller size?
