its off EBay... so what type of reliable bilitiy issue sshould i worry about?

28-70 is old, and was updated with the newer 24-70.
and when you're dealing with a DSLR with 1.6x crop, that extra 4mm will come in handy. I say take a close look at the lens and make sure it still looks and works like new. The rest of the package 'should' be fine.

check on craigslist for market prices.

I personally wouldn't pay more than $1200 because it's ebay. If it was a local pickup, then I'd be willing to offer more aftering seeing that it's perfect.

Clicks on the shutter? I'd walk away if the seller was unable to tell you...

the auction is pretty low for some reason.... which is why im tempted.
I think i can live with the off 4mm just b/c its a quality lens, and im used to using crappy kit lens.... so i think it'll still blow my mind, and meet my photography needs @ the same time.
