Hey
I'm wondering if anyone knows what's the best price for the base model of Pontiac Vibe + Auto + ABS. I don't care about other extras. Also, am I correct that I'll be able to get a much (significantly) better deal on the Vibe, than a similar-equipped Matrix? BTW, does anyone know where I can get the cheapest car insurance in Calgary, especially in the NW or downtown area. Lastly, does anyone know when are Toyota, Honda, and Nissan going to release the following models in Canada, or if they're going to at all: Toyota Vitz/Yaris Nissan Note/Toon/Tune Honda Fitz/Jazz Thanks in advance, |

Yaris is already here (Echo Hatch)
Honda Jazz/Fit --supposedly in 2006 No clue about the Nissan The best price on a Pontiac Vibe will depend on several factors including whether you are paying cash or taking advantage of a special GM financing rate as well as the model year you are buying. Some dealers still have 2004s hopefully deeply discounted. GM currently has 0% 36 Mo financing on the Vibe in Ontario..not sure about AB. Personally I'd probably go for the GM financing if you can afford the monthly payment as I doubt you'd be able to negotiate the equivalent cash discount. |

![]() I'm actually wondering when is the new Vitz/Yaris coming out in Canada. It looks so much better than the current Echo hatchback, both in and outside. |

One thing about the Pontiac Vibe is that it is the *exact* same car as the Toyota Matrix. So if you prefer Toyota customer service over GM or maybe Toyota offers some special deal/financing rates you can do some comparisions. Anyways, just informing that you have a larger range of options.

I'm not sure about the 06 Yaris in Canada. Toyota is dropping the ECHO in the States next year but will continue selling the Scion models.
Maybe we'll here something in a few weeks when the Toronto Autoshow starts. |

Hey Fllay,
i just bought a vibe a month ago. i'm also in calgary. i have the dealer invoice prices which can help you negotiate your final price (never pay the sticker price!). send me a PM and i'll send you the invoice prices. As for the dealership, i recommend stampede pontiac in downtown. they're good guys to deal with. and right now, they have an overstock of vibes which means there are good deals to be had. As for the car, i'm very happy with the vibe -- toyota reliability/quality with rebates/discounts from GM. Erik |

The best way to purchase a car is to go into the dealership, find a salesman and say. I want this car. Show me your invoice and I will give you $500 over invoice (I think $500 is a fair amount to make on a car). If you don't want the deal, I am leaving and going to another dealership.
I always get the original invoice and the salesman always makes $500 + incentivies, hold backs etc. Generally, there is only $1500 markup on low end cars. Mid size cars have $2000-$2500 markup and high end cars have the most markup. Think of it this way, since you are already in Alberta. You are saving at least 8% more than any other province. No provincial sales tax. Quote:

$1.00 would be the best price for a Pontiac Vibe... GM dealers will usually allow more leeway when negotiating the price of a new car. Toyota is notorious for being very hard to negotiate with. Honda is even worse than Toyota. Honda is more like "Here's the price...take it or leave it." Toyota and Honda can do this because of their reputation for quality built cars. So many people are willing to pay the list or close to list price. You might want to check out Toyota.ca and use their "Access" pricing to see what the no haggle price for the Matrix is. Then go to GM to see if they will be that price. If not, then buy from Toyota. |
