Default What time are you going to the mall on boxing day?

I think most of the malls open at 8am on boxing day.

What time are you guys planning on getting there? Is there usually a big lineup already at 8am? What time do you have to get there in order to get a parking spot?

I'm probably going to Markville Mall this year. What about you guys?

I think most malls open around 8, but some large format stores (like Best Buy or the Bay) may open as early as 7am. Since they have doors on the outside, they can make people lineup outside in the cold, while the mall in still closed.

Also, generally, for a store (like Future Shop) that opens at 7am, I would lineup around 6:15am and be like the 100's in line. I always managed to get everything I wanted. (Especially those $25 Rogers PAy as you go phones from 2 years ago)

Since when has futureshop opened that early? Every year I go they open at 1pm (but that doesn't stop anyone from lining up from 6am).

FS AND BB are open at 6am this year to the public, their associates have to be there at 4am.

Back in 2003 boxing day, I got to Markville's BB, got there at 6:50am lineup was already long enough, -25c outside or so, so I gave it a go and waited maybe 25 mins or so.. then I said F it, and headed inside the mall and got coffee

2004 boxing day waited outside in the mall infront of GAP with 30 others, walked in and checked a bit and came back out with nothing.

12pm headed to work.

I leave the house around 8am boxing day. Usually all the stores are pretty dead at that time. Then again, i usually just hit EB (for their $0.99 games), and zellers for their $10 games. Then anything else i stumble across is all cool, but i'm in no rush to get to the items.

RFD'er combine 2 techniques:

1a) research & read the boxing week scans before midnight, then purchase what they need and go to bed.

1b) wake up at 8am and drive to the nearest mall to purchase clothing.

1c) arrive home at 10am and enjoy a late breakfast and quick nap.

2a) print out flyer scans and get in line with others to celebrate their boxing day tradition. lots of people have fun in line and chat up to pass the time (if you've been a student and wanted a dvd player you gladly lined up 5yrs ago).

2b) finish your main purchases by 7am and head over to home depot or costco for treats and discounted promos -- grab a free coffee there too.

2c) head over to the mall and be the first to try on the discounted clothes.

i prefer Version 1 because i like to go ice skating or catch a movie with friends. shopping is OK but hurdling 1000's of other mall shoppers makes me insane. if you want to avoid traffic & crowds AND want good service then you should arrive at the mall between 8-10am. it's a zoo afterwards... and tonnes of accidents in the parking lot or fender-benders at street corners. stay home and play with your cousins

Usually I'll be in line no later than 7am.
