Question What do you guys think about the 44' LG DLP @ Future Shop?

Like the title says...

Is it a good tv?

Is it priced right?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I wish that there were more DLPs on sale. I was planning to pick one up, but I am going to pass.

Eh, I wouldn't buy DLP TVs because of their low tech and high mechanical technology. It is basically just a three-colour filter that spins around and you shoot light into the filters.

and they magically create a pretty decent picture in HD at least on all of my DLP units... a 50" Sammy and a 720p projector.

I prefer my DLP TV downstairs over our 23" LCD unit in the kitchen...not sure why, just do. Sometimes I think I'm watching TV in 'slow motion' on the LCD.

Besides everything these days is pretty much disposable...most electronics are obsolete and worthless well before they actually break down, so the reliability issue is moot. As long as they all work for us during their 3 year warranty period, Bob's your uncle.

Form your own. No risk involved, if you don't like it, you get 100% of your money back.

Futureshop will take back TV's after they're been used? Will they give back cash or store credit?

Whatever you paid originally. The 30 day return policy applies to everything (except some computer stuff that's 14 days and CDs/DVDs which can't be returned once open).

I bought one..... i heard they're really good... supposedly the same as a toshiba 44HM85 (rumored that the toshiba is a rebranded LG which says a lot if toshiba would put there name on a LG) also the rating was really good for it like 4.71 out of 5 (100 Ratings)...better than the samsung HLR4264's 3.6 (132 Ratings) which by the way had been on sale for 1499.99 as well.....I researched it quite a bit and found that most people recommended the Dlp's for gaming which is what my major concern was...then dvd's....but all in all if we don't like them we can always return it....

Unless they're a rebranded version of another company's technology (which is unlikely in this case), I'd avoid no-name brands for big purchases like these.

I believe it's a rebrand of AKAI. I don't know much about that brand either though.

Well I tried to get it, but it was sold out at FS. They let me put a deposit for their next shipment that comes in.

I was going to get the 52" LG DLP but when I went in to look it, the picture quality was much lower than other brands. The colours were not as crisp as the other model beside it. Not sure if it would be the same for the 44"...

I ended up passing.
