Hello;
Well yesterday I decided to go do some shopping around 9am and ended up at the Upper Canada Mall browsing thru The Bay. I found a couple deals on some clothing and a sheet set, then proceeded to the check out to pay. I hate the lines at The Bay as they make no sense. You just have a bunch of people mingling around the cashiers waiting for the next available person all the while fending off old ladies trying to cue jump, there is no cue setup to speak of. Well someone bumps into me from behind, nothing major so I just ignore it as I figure that another patron is in a hurry. Well then there is a tap on my shoulder and I turn around. You know that moment in your brain where you are thinking, what the hell is this all about? Well nothing that came to my mind was even close to what I was about to see. Standing behind me was the most beautiful woman I have ever been 2 feet from, at that moment in that place she was perfect. She was Japanese, about 5'5", the most amazingly deep hazel eyes, perfect makeup, shimmering hair, brilliant smile... I was standing there speechless just looking into her eyes for what seemed like hours while my mind was completely blank. I don't know how long I was just standing there like an idiot but finally she said that she was sorry for bumping into me in an accent I just couldn't place, I muttered something unintelligent as my brain was slowly rebooting from the shock. Just to clarify I am by no means a ladies man. I am shy when meeting new people and to have a conversation with what looked like a model, well that just has never happened to me. I have also put on some weight since my divorce over a year ago and that just kind of made me feel like a 2 standing beside a 10. So after a moment of awkward silence and me still staring I finally snap back to reality and say that I am sorry for staring at her and no harm, no foul for the bump. I turn around and continue to stand in line with the image of her face etched into my soul. She taps me on the shoulder again and when I turn around she says that my cologne is amazing and wants to know what it is. The answer that comes out of my mouth is about the stupidest thing I have ever said and I am just attributing it to my brain still not working. I say "The orange one." and I am so confident when I say it... after a few seconds she just bursts out laughing. Funny how it felt like I had just been kicked in the balls. But I am saved by the bell as it were when I hear 'Sir, Sir..." from a cashier over my shoulder. I turn and head up to the cash, pay for my things and start heading for the door leading into the mall. I was four steps from the mall when I hear a voice that I have only known for a few moments calling after me. I turn around to find the woman of my dream coming up behind me. She says that she wasn't laughing at me, it was a cute answer and caught her off guard and she still wanted to know what cologne it was. I took a second and said it was by Dunhill but the name has slipped my mind, the response I got put me back into shock... She says lets go have a coffee and see if you can remember, well the only thing that came out of my mouth was "you want to have coffee with me?" I don't remember her response but we ended up going to Mmmmm Muffins for a coffee. So we are sitting down talking about all the things people talk about when they first meet. I find out that her name is Ayame but everyone pronounces it Amy, we talk about where she works, where I work... Her father is a tech of some kind with Toyota and she grew up in Kentucky before moving to Ontario 8 years ago. We actually went to the same high school 5 years apart. The Kentucky / Ontario accents mixing is why I couldn't quite place her but after I found out I could hear a little Georgia Peach in her voice. We talked for almost an hour and I could swear she was flirting with me, laughing at all my attempts to be funny (even when I wasn't that funny), played with her hair, maintained constant eye contact and touched my arm a few times. She even told me I had the most amazing eyes she had seen, I had to tell her I was wearing contacts. At one point we exchanged phone numbers and email addresses. Then her phone rang and she answered it, said "Oh ****" and hung up. She turned to me and said she didn't realize what time it was but she had to run as she had to get too an appointment at a bridal shop. I asked if she has a wedding to go too, she said yes it was tomorrow and all the final prep was being done today. I asked if she was a bride's maid and without missing a beat she said; "No, I'm the bride." As she was gathering up purse and cell phone she said it was great to meet me and she would give me a call to go out for lunch sometime. I am just too stunned to say anything as I watch her hurry away. I think I sat there for 10 minutes trying to figure out what had just happened... Thinking back we had never talked about relationships or significant others or even past relationships. Then it hits me; 'My God, she thinks I'm Gay!' But how could she think I'm gay if she was flirting with me? Do straight women flirt with gay men? Lifer Sucks! |

I enjoyed that post, and laughed at your awkward moments.
I don't think so, if you were nervous round her and she knew it, she'd know that you were not gay. Call her up!
