Default Vince Carter Charity All-Star Game

http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/rost...ar_040709.html

The list of the first 10 players committed to playing in the game. The usual suspects are there: UNC guys (Jamison, Shammond, Haywood), the Raptors (MoP, Jalen, Palacio) and the Canadian content (Magloire).

Has anyone been to any of the past VC allstar games? They seem intriguing because they're not so much a game as an exhibition of offensive talent

I went to the VC All-Star Charity game last year. (Sprite Zone tickets)

and it was pretty awesome. They have a DJ playing music the entire game.....and there was a few good dunks and plays....but it was kinda fun cause all the players would be dancing on the sidelines during breaks.

JYD was there last time, and he was dancing it up as well. So its just an overall great entertainment. And they seem to have a better list of players this year, so i'm sure it'll be better than the last. I recommend you go if you havn't gone before.

I've been at the last two Vince Carter All Star charity game and it's pretty entertaining when the players try to dance during their half time. Especially last year when Shawn Marion and Shammond Williams were dancing it out. i highly recommend that people go to this event. No defense, but all offense! I've got my ticket, do you?

I went to last years game, won this wicked contest from the Toronto Star (wicked seats, t-shirt, meet V.C. for like 5 mins, and i got to high five all the players coming into the arena)

The game itself was okay, got kinda boring when everyone tries to make these crazy plays and none of them worked out. But there were some good dunks etc..

And it was great fun watching Vince and Alvin dance on the floor

if Richardson is there (and doesn't no show) then it could be worth the price of admission alone to see him and VC go at it in a dunk off.

Is it just me, or has the caliber of players at VC's charity game fallen off dramatically? Remember the first year when the two teams were actually all stars...and now, asides from Vince no one else is perennial all-star.

You'd think he'd get more players to come since he puts the game around Caribana when all the NBA players game. Maybe it has something to do with Vince letting his mom do the talking too much. haha

Well it's strictly for charity and is about having fun so some bigshots probably couldn't care less about making a trek to Toronto just to play in it. Carter brings in guys he has fun with and guys that want to have fun: Former UNC teammates, current teammates and you can bet Magloire loves to play in Toronto every chance he gets.

I just looked up the 2001 list and I wouldn't call it more impressive than this year: http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/cart..._players3.html

i've gone the last two years and it gets quite boring after the first 5 minutes. as you can tell from the people's reply that they enjoyed the dancing and that stuck out in their mind, pretty sad considering basketball was suppose to be the attraction. everyone who i've talked with who went to the first charity game loved it, it was suppose to be the best one and it's just fallen off from there. if you like to see a lot of fancy plays that sometimes work and many times does not, it's okay, it's almost like a scrimmage game because there is no defence.

i just got tickets, and as posted in the 'hot deals' section, they are offering 2 for 1 tickets for upper bowl seating...(i think the deal expires tomorrow)...

but out of curiousity, i've seen a lot of forums of fans who are bringing 'fire peddie' signs to the game...don't know how effective that will be, but any fellow RF'ers doing that?

as with most fans, i hope to hear some good news after the game (in fact that's one of the reasons why i'm going...)

we just got back from the game...it was a fun game...

'starting from scratch' held things down from the sound side of things...

some impressive dunks...and tractor trailer was ripping things up down low......he even shot some three's :-)

vc had a few acrobatic dunks...but he stuck to shooting more three's than anything...

mo...looked great on fast break...

skip to my lou was out dribbling everyone...

jalene...was being a joker and enjoying himself with the raptor dance pack (along with shamond)

over all, everyone had a great time,...would go again next year!!!

=( i wanted to goo....dam school!!

i was thinking vince would give some little spiel (sp?) at the end saying "toronto is his place, and i'm going to stay here blah blah blah" or something like that.

i thought thats why he said to media "you'll have to be patient for a response" (regarding trade rumours)......bah i really hope he doesn't leave now. cause now im thinking he said to "be patient" cause he didn't want the idea of him leaving toronto to affect the sales of the tickets.

hey spinz, did they say it was a sold out game? i heard on monday they only sold about 10,000 ticks. (19,800 is the capacitiy of the ACC)

and they were saying how its all these trade rumours which had a blow on sales. so yea let us know how packed the ACC looked.

I was trying to look for official attendance numbers...but nothing yet...i would say from looking around the ACC that about 17,000-18,000 showed up...i agree that the trade rumours kept people away, otherwise he was bound to sell out the ACC again...

i saw a few 'fire peddie' signs, but nothing major on that front...

i forgot to mention that lennox lewis was the guest coach for the ol skool team...and cabbie interviewed VC's wife, she seems very chill...(good catch for VC)...

i was waiting for the big announcement at the end of the game...but he just thanked everyone for making the game possible and thanked the fans...but nothing about his status with toronto...but he did make an effort during the game to let the crowd know that the raps matched Mo Pete's offer...

and to end things off, he invited everyone to his club for the official after party...

Wanted to be there...ah well, there's always next year.....hopefully

Some stuff about what Vince said/the game if anyone wants to read.
"The crowd was announced at 16,217..."
"One fan held up a sign that read: Please Vince, don't pull a McGrady. Others hoisted signs saying: Fire Peddie, Keep Vince."

Saw some of the highlights on Global. Some pretty nice dunks (and missed dunks )

i came back from the VC All Star Charity game. I was pretty disappointed! The talent and the excitement of the past three years have gone downhill. This Charity game was bad, bad, bad! i wanted to leave right after the half-time show. Not an ounce of defense and the passing & dunks weren't even spectacular(ok....maybe one). Luckily 'Skip to my Lou'(Rafer Alston) was there to dazzle us with his 'And 1' moves. He is sick when he dribbles the ball!!

Other than Rafer, the only other thing that was good was the 4 year old boy who could dribble two balls at the same time! :razz

Here were the people who were playing :

VC
Brendan Haywood
Jerry Stackhouse
Jalen Rose
Rafer Alston
Adalis Idouglaska (one of the rookies for this year)
Ken Thomas
Trakter Traylor
Jamaal Magloire
Shammond Williams
Mo Pete
Antawn Jamison
.......and a few more guys that I can't remember

Talent really seems to be strecthing pretty thin this year....No Stromile Swift, Shawn Marion

Too many 3's...was Ray Allen there? I could have sworn I saw him on the scoreboard, but didn't see him play. Oh, and MoPete can dance.
