Default A Valentine never to forget, lot of reasons.

I'd been seeing my love online for some time, and it was a to be our first in person meeting. I live in Canada, and she lived in New Mexico. We decided that the Valentine's weekend was perfect for the romantic occasion. I flew in a few days before the 14th. My love met me at the airport and the second we saw each other, it just clicked.

The plans for the weekend was fairly full, lots of sites to see, and things to do. She wanted me to see her "neck of the woods". And we enjoyed every minute of it.

Funny thing, as our relationship progressed, both online and now in person, we both had a tough time THINKING the next step. It kind of startled both of us when a phone call came in and a store said "The present for your BOYFRIEND" is in. It was the first time we actually heard it in those words. Takes some getting used to.

On our list of plans, a trip out to some hotsprings was there for the 14th. She had never been there, and it was something I had wanted to do. She was somewhat nervous, as the springs were clothing optional, never having done that. I had before, and wanted to share the experience of communing with nature.

The online info on the hotsprings gave detailed directions to get there, and had listed the hike as moderate. My girlfriend was not much on hiking, but based on the directions figured we would be ok. So we got to the parking lot, and found the trail head, and started walking. We both took lots of pictures along the way. The more we hiked the steeper the trail got. We kept climbing, and it kept getting harder and harder. The harder it got, the harder time my girlfriend had.

Eventually, it was so tough, we threw in the towel and gave up going futher. Both of us had to rest, and when I looked over to her, her face was almost lobster coloured.

After we got rested, we hiked back down, and even that was a pretty tough haul. Mostly downhill, but still strenious.

When we got to the car, we started to return, phoning ahead to change our dinner plans. We had planned to meet her two adult sons, and daughter in law, to introduce me to them. The hike had put us behind schedule, and we arranged to meet them a little later in the evening.

So here it was, our first weekend together, and I damn near killed her.

The capper to this day was the dinner. My girlfriend introduced me to the two sons, and we had dinner. When we were asked what we had done earlier that day, we told them about the hike to "the springs", and her youngest said "I hear that it's full of naked hippies". I tried to catch her eye, but she avoided it, so we didn't break up laughing. To this day, I don't think her son realized that if we'd made it there, we would have BEEN some of those "naked hippies".

Despite almost killing her that first weekend, our relationship has progressed, and we've been married almost three years, and she's become a Permanent resident of Canada.
