That price sounds too good to be true.

Anyone have any personal experiences?

Nine Nine Five provides FREE technical support via e-mail and offers online support instructions in the Setup & Support section.
E-mail Support
Technical Support -- > support@995.ca
E-mail this address if you require technical assistance with your service.

Service Support -- > service@995.ca
E-mail this address if you have questions about your service or would like to make changes to your service.

Telephone Support

Nine Nine Five does not include free Live Technical Support.
Nine Nine Five does provide a facility for you to talk to technical representative rather than obtain support via e-mail at a charge of $9.95/call.

Call the following number and leave a message for our technical group. A representative will return your call to assist you. Please note that a charge of $9.95 will be billed to your account upon our technical representative call back.
Now if you have a problem connecting on the internet, how are you gonna email them for support??

$9.95 per call for phone support seems quite steep to me especially when you will probably have to hang up the phone check to see if what they tell you works and then call them again if it doesn't work.

AT&T Worldnet in the US has a couple price plans (cheaper than the regular, 'premium' plans) that include only free online support. Tech support calls cost $17USD per issue, though they do not charge for the same issue within 48 hours, and generally refund if the problem is on their end. So if you think $10 sucks.. hopefully they have similar policies. That being said, you're still saving money if you only need tech once or twice a year. You do get what you pay for.

I'd rather go for Shaw's lite speed. if i went unlimited on a phone line, i would need to pay like $21 for the extra phone line.. + this 9.95 is more than $30. Lite speed is only $25.

Saw an ad for these guys in the computer paper.

Not bad as they seem to have a pretty good base of numbers set up.

I would call the number a few times during peak hours. I you start getting busy signals, stay away.

If not, give it a shot, just don't sign a contact for service in advance.

No telling how long they will be around.

I have 3Web and it's 10.65/mo including taxes and the help you get through e-mail is really good. But if you want to have live tech support it'll cost extra. they have a plan that costs 14.95/mo that includes live tech.

It's good if you don't use the internet much because they have an Agent that searches for internet abusers and disconnects them . . .

they serve all of canada but it's based out of calgary . . .

Unlimited is good if you can log on and stay logged on. I would ask around for how stable their service is before I sign up. Typical ISP has 1 modem per 20 accounts. As a discount ISP they might be 1:40 or worst. Bottom line is you probably get what you paid for.

there was a time when my only internet access was free "banner ad" subsidied companies. bluelight, 3web...the list goes on and on. funny thing, i remember receiving better connections when it was free than after they switched to the pay model. you get what you paid for so -- $10[thrift] VS. $24[lite] VS. $35[dsl]: at least there's variety and choice --

You can always find a way to disable the ads, but that's cheating.
