Anyone here going to Western next year? I'm gonna be entering 2nd year, so if you have any questions you can post them here. Get ready to have a great time!

First year law at Western.

Question for the people who've done it before: Can I get my student card and bus pass before the first week of September? If so, when will the registrar's office have all of that ready by?

You can get your student card before Sept. Just visit the registrar's office.
The bus pass is available at UCC starting Sept 1, I think. It is not possible to get it earlier.

hi, I just wonder how's the GPA requirement for transfer student coming from 1st year?

Actually Western did give me an offer early before, but due to $ and residence issues, I had to decline it and chose other uni which's located at my hometown. So I wonder if once I apply to Western again as a transfer student next year, will they consider this point too? Will this increase higher chances of acceptance in the future? Thanks.

Don't know but don't fall into the trap of standing in line with all the other Froshies.

Look for your student number cut in front of all them and when the rent a cops ask you point to your student number.

That's what I did in 4th year saved me a lot of time wasting away standing in line for no reason.

At UWO here too!

Going in to third year. Did the first two in MOS (Called ACS when I started) and am now doing my HBA @ Ivey.

If anyone has any questions about UWO or MOS I'd be happy to try and answer as well.

Do you guys have any suggestions for bird courses or at least courses that are easier and I can get a decent mark? I got a pretty heavy course load this semester with a bunch of essay courses so I don't wanna add more stress by choosing a tough elective. I need 2.0 credits in anything of my choice so I can take anything. Please give me some suggestions and if possible, please list the prof you took it with.

1st to get your student card go to the thomson-laurence building and get a pic and your get you student card.

Bus pass- 3rd and up students get to by pass the line, just tell them what year your in. You cant skip it
also fyi if u already have insurance get a letter saying ur insurared so u get money back

physics for non scientists
world religions
speech class (huron)

You should be able to get in no problem. If you do plan on transfering next year, make sure that the courses you take at which ever univ you'll be at will be accepted by western next year. The last thing you want to do is waste $5 grand and not have those courses accepted.

Compsci and Math 030 (Calculus and Algebra) are not for everyone so I wouldn't really be recommending those to someone with an already heavy course load.

From personal experience, I would stay away from Geography 020, Poli-sci 021E (if Westmacott is teaching it; although I believe he is finally done)

Some easy courses I found to be were:
- Geography 155a/b (only of the Malczewski is teaching it)
- History 143/144 with Prof Kratz
- Economics 116/117 with Prof Brown (he actually gives you exam questions
- Writing 020 - Don't bother if you really scuk at writing!

I think this was mentioned before, but it's nice to know. I imagine the line is going to be plenty long.

What courses are you currently taking? I'm guessing you're in first year since you didn't mention otherwise.

I know this sounds lame but you'll likely do better in a course if you find it interesting than if it there's not much material but you find it boring as ****.

But... if you've ever messed around with creating websites and doing html then Compsci 31 will be a walk in the park. I think this is as close to a bird course as you'll find.

I personally took Compsci 32 which deals with XML and such. It was extremely simple, having never done it before, but apparently some people had problems with it. I still am not sure why people found it challenging when you get a sample text file and you simply need to modify it. You also do a bunch of easy word, excel and access exercises. The instructions are right in the book so it's kind of hard to fail. BUT, unless you have some strange deep love for "Accounting Information Systems" I wouldn't take this course because you have to read an accounting information system textbook which is quite possibly the most boring subject known to man. Stick with 31. They don't have any of that...stuff.

All of my other courses were pretty challenging.

In Law 101 you got a bonus 10% for doing the online quizzes (just doing, not doing right) posting on the discussion board, and filling out the end of term surveys. I'm not sure if they still have that this year but it was pretty sweet. You don't really need to do much work for this course at all. There are usually 5-15 pages of assigned readings that you can do before class but the lecture material almost always covers everything in the textbook so it's not mandatory. The material itself is detailed, however, and though the course doesn't really require any work aside from studying for exams, I wouldn't take it unless you have an interest in Law. The exams were also not easy. You had to definitely know your stuff.

I wouldn't worry about this too much guys. As long as you don't go during student orientation when the giant groups of frosh get their bus passes the lines won't be THAT long. I'm sure everyone can spare 10 or 15 minutes of their lives to get the pass
