Default Trailer: Lars and the Real Girl (with Ryan Gosling)

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P27EIxPRmcY

Plot from IMDB:
A delusional young guy strikes up an unconventional relationship with a doll he finds on the Internet.

Could this be another Oscar nomination for Ryan Gosling? Despite the ridiculous premise, it seems like a bittersweet movie.

If anyone has already watched it, please feel free to post you opinions.

If you guys watch the documentary this movie is based on - extremely depressing! Definitely NOT suitable for immature audiences.

Congrats to Ryan Gosling for his 'Best Actor' nomination at the Golden Globes! Between Ryan Gosling, Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, that is one intense competition. He's one step closer to winning that well-deserved Oscar.

I recently saw this movie because a friend of mine likes art house films. Was very pleasantly surprised. Ryan Gosling does an excellent job, as does the rest of the cast. Often times films will have one "star" actor and not-so-good supporting actors, but in this film the main supporting actors were very, very good.

It is a sweet film, and I got very involved while watching. There is some quiet humor. It is centered mainly on the lives of small-town people and the interactions between them, so it is not an action or a plot-driven movie. I was able to guess the ending.

The film was apparently shot in Ontario (supposed to be a small midwest town, maybe in Minnesota), and it looks like it since I felt I vaguely recognized all of the location shots from somewhere.

The film is definitely heavy handed with the metaphors, especially those related to the changing of the seasons, but not annoyingly so imo. Overall, an excellent movie if you like this kind of thing.
