When our daughter was born fromn day 1 until 6 months co-slept with us. We looked at both sides of this topic and felt it was the best thing for us. At 6 months we felt it was time to move the baby into her own room and crib but were dreading this because we figured she was not going to tae well to this idea.....the first night she cried fr about 10 minutes and then went to sleep, waking every 2-3 hours for feeding....I was putting her to bed at around 9 pm each night and the transition was very smooth....We then thought maybe she wasn't going to bed early enough so I moved it up 1 hour to 8pm and that seemed as well to be going great. Then the time changed moving up 1 hour and putting her to bed at night has been hell since. I kept with the 8pm and that wasn't going well then figured her clock was screwy and that was 7pm to her so I moved it later 1 hour to 9pm, same no success. We put her to bed and she just screams and cries and doesn't stop.....The most we have left it at is about 20 minutes without intervention. She just doesn't seem to want to go to bed by herself anymore out f the blue....she'll sleep on me or my wife no problem but not alone anymore after doing so well for about 2 months....very frustrating....I am of the opinion no matter how hard let her cry for a couple days and she'll get straightened out but my wife can't handle it....not sure what to do.

I like you believe in CIO (cry it out), and as tough as it may seem it maked the infant more independant. There are many debates on this topic, and you either do or don't.
Are you certain she is not gassy, teething or hot? Some babies hate being too warm, although it's how we'd be comfortable.

I agree with you about the routine. We coslept with #1 and although as first time parents it worked well with us, we didn't do it with the other two, ever! They were definitely much easier children!

Is she still waking ever 2-3 hours for feeding? I see that as a potential problem as well. By that age, they should be able to easily sustain themselves for 6-8 hours without a feed. |

I found something quite interesting tonight that is most likely related to what she is going through, others may find interesting: http://moxie.blogs.com/askmoxie/2006...t_are_sle.html
She has just learned to crawl and today actually she crawled the furthest without going back down on her stomach.....
